I saw something on the news about this at 3am, but my attention span was bad at that time of the morning, and all these shootings are getting a bit boring now.

The gunman, Robert Hawkins, is said to have suffered from depression in the past, and recently lost his job at McDonald's and broke up with his girlfriend.

Life must have been so hard for him at the age of 19  :disgust:

Oh come on what a reason! Atleast our killer was a "political terrorist" like he said..but you lost your job at McDonalds and broke up with ya girlfriend!? Jesus, why he just didn't go and get drunk but no, he had to go kill people. If you're depressed, why the fuck you gotta hurt other people

R.I.P all the victims :(

Your life sucks so you obviously HAVE to end other peoples lives who you don't know and who have nothing to do with you.

This guy is a piece of shit AND was a fucking loser. Hell of a thing to be famous for.

depression and being depressed are different things someone with depression always feels bad regardless of what they do about it except psychotherapy and anti depressant drugs they are inclined to commit homicide or more likely and more frequently suicide.

strange how he slipped through the net though usually depressed people are found quickly and helped out its an unfortunate thing that may have been avoided if more people paid attention maybe we can blame the parents or maybe the dumb bastaurd health worker who allowed him to go untreated or even the fact that guns are still readily available in the USA but regardless people have died and my sympathy goes to the families and i hope if there is an after life the gunman has a little more peace than he did when he was alive still this is a horrific crime

Sorry to promote a more 'Klaus Kinsky'-kinda view on this topic but people committing crimes like these
are as good or bad as people getting them attention - like with this thread. It's been on the news, no
need to popularize the incident in a rock forum. If you get those instable asshole attention you can
consider your hands bloody.

Ah yes, the ostrich approach to crime.  That's really gonna help deal with the problem

And yes it is a problem, that's the reason the supreme court are ruling on the application of the 2nd Amendment in Washington soon.  You can't have a debate on gun control without presenting both sides of the argument.  Presenting the anti-gun side necessitates you to provide examples of why letting civilians bear arms isn't the smartest idea in the world.

Not being a USA citizen myself so my knowledge is really shaky here but didn't the right to bear arms in the constitution when it was made have local militias in mind given the circumstances and times it was created in, It's like the US is not the wild west anymore and the gun companies blantent greed is also a choking factor on your society, I aint saying ban guns i'm saying look at how Switzerland manages to have virtually no gun crime yet along with the USA is one of the most armed populations on the planet.

Different culture, some cultures are simply inherently more violent than others, America happens to be one of them (and I don't by any means attempt to label all Americans as violent here, just agreeing with the words of one of the great American novelists, Nathaniel West here)
