I saw something on the news about this at 3am, but my attention span was bad at that time of the morning, and all these shootings are getting a bit boring now.

Quote
The gunman, Robert Hawkins, is said to have suffered from depression in the past, and recently lost his job at McDonald's and broke up with his girlfriend.

Life must have been so hard for him at the age of 19  :disgust:

Oh come on what a reason! Atleast our killer was a "political terrorist" like he said..but you lost your job at McDonalds and broke up with ya girlfriend!? Jesus, why he just didn't go and get drunk but no, he had to go kill people. If you're depressed, why the fuck you gotta hurt other people

R.I.P all the victims :(

Your life sucks so you obviously HAVE to end other peoples lives who you don't know and who have nothing to do with you.

This guy is a piece of shit AND was a fucking loser. Hell of a thing to be famous for.

If you're depressed, why the fuck you gotta hurt other people

depression and being depressed are different things someone with depression always feels bad regardless of what they do about it except psychotherapy and anti depressant drugs they are inclined to commit homicide or more likely and more frequently suicide.

strange how he slipped through the net though usually depressed people are found quickly and helped out its an unfortunate thing that may have been avoided if more people paid attention maybe we can blame the parents or maybe the dumb bastaurd health worker who allowed him to go untreated or even the fact that guns are still readily available in the USA but regardless people have died and my sympathy goes to the families and i hope if there is an after life the gunman has a little more peace than he did when he was alive still this is a horrific crime

Sorry to promote a more 'Klaus Kinsky'-kinda view on this topic but people committing crimes like these
are as good or bad as people getting them attention - like with this thread. It's been on the news, no
need to popularize the incident in a rock forum. If you get those instable asshole attention you can
consider your hands bloody.

Ah yes, the ostrich approach to crime.  That's really gonna help deal with the problem

And yes it is a problem, that's the reason the supreme court are ruling on the application of the 2nd Amendment in Washington soon.  You can't have a debate on gun control without presenting both sides of the argument.  Presenting the anti-gun side necessitates you to provide examples of why letting civilians bear arms isn't the smartest idea in the world.

Not being a USA citizen myself so my knowledge is really shaky here but didn't the right to bear arms in the constitution when it was made have local militias in mind given the circumstances and times it was created in, It's like the US is not the wild west anymore and the gun companies blantent greed is also a choking factor on your society, I aint saying ban guns i'm saying look at how Switzerland manages to have virtually no gun crime yet along with the USA is one of the most armed populations on the planet.

Different culture, some cultures are simply inherently more violent than others, America happens to be one of them (and I don't by any means attempt to label all Americans as violent here, just agreeing with the words of one of the great American novelists, Nathaniel West here)

^ good points in your post, agree.

I'm an Amerk myself, and I have to say that as a 19 year old I don't get why people my age are always getting depressed about the stupidest shit.  Honestly, America is going to hell, and my generation isn't going to make it any better... :disgust:

well ok mister president tell me how u plan to stomp out all masacres and suicides aswell as murders cults and rapes in a country which is one of the largest in exsistance how do u possibly manage to monitor every1 in a populace without causing unrest and still managing to keep all people under surveilance its extremely hard infact its pretty much impossible in the uk where i live there are 50,000 cctv owned publicly and a fair few owned privately by business and homes but we still have shit loads of crime and were a tiny country by comparison to america, crime is inevitable war is not but if saddam was left more people would die simply for being another type of human in saddams eyes were there now because we fucked there economy and towns so we gotta help the country reestablish or they will become another war torn state that will end up hating the usa my point is this is an invalid point as the war was to some degree nessicary and that u cant stop crime there is no way in hell u can ever really stop crime in any society

To be fair i stopped taking the point seriously after 'Thousands of people are dying in Irak by americans.and' i believe you've heard of muslim on muslim killings?? shia vs sunni???? I'd love to know what news or tv programmes your watching that show the americans physically commiting genocide. Anyway this is another disscussion for another topic for another day.

lol man i loved your reply i was meant my own reply was off topic. It's like wtf has the Iraq war got to do with gun crime in the USA, Crime and gun crime existed long before the Iraq war and will exist long after it as you stated in your reply mate crime is inveitable no matter where you live on this world.

I don't condone what this guy did at all but you are being quite ignorant to make that statement. You have absolutely no idea what he went through, was going through and his mental state in general. As I said though, it wasn't right for him to do that and he should have seeked some sort of help.

But the flaw in your reply is that no one know's exacatly what anyone is going through completely or what's in each others minds we're not privvy to exacatly everything what everyone thinks only what they potray to us. I'm talking from experience here i've had a friend who was always cracking jokes and was always doing everything to make people laugh and was the life and soul of parties and he hung himself with his own belt, Now explain to me how all his friends where meant to know that him being a naturally funny guy was just him trying to seek love or attention that he desperately needed???

All of us go through shit but not everyone feels the need to pick up a gun and make a statement to the world about how it's failed us by taking random peoples lives. It's easy to talk about getting help in hindsight but in reality it's not quite as simple as just walking into a clinic and saying look i'm going through a rough time here i'm seriously depressed i need help because everyday you know it's not something you just wake up and decide to do especially as so many of these kids don't know they have a problem in the first place.

As disturbing as it is, its nothing compared to what goes on in other countries, like iraq , or picka place.

Iraqi deaths are no more than statistics, yet we feel horrible about a few dead americans?

And with a population of 300 million in the us, whats a few deaths by shotguns anyway....drug related crime doesnt even make the news no more, black guy dead?-who cares---- thats how it is.

The real sad thing here is that ppl are not able to tackle their own problems, or are ignored by family n friends around them-funny, when you live in a world of billions, your only friend is the phone...MONSTER MAGNET!!!!!

if school cant provide you with the tools to handle your life, thats sad, when society doesnt care about the poor and weak, its sad.

If beeing christian would mean anything anymore, we would be in a better state i guess-without beeing religious or stuff-just the plain ideas and the good parts of what christianity means..you know...

i dunno, im not surprised by anything anymore....do you blame me?

we are in general selfish individuals, and in one way or another, ppl get hurt, killed and beheaded because of that...

i dunno....humans arent perfect...shit will always happen, thats it...

very few of us are "heroic" or care about much more than their own lil world....and the result is the world we have today..

excuse my rambling......its fucked up, what can you say..
