I just prefer the pop up, I don't always look to see if I have new message, it just makes it easy cause then it links you to your inbox.

I quite like the popup coz I always forget to check that thing at the side.

Also I've stopped getting e-mails when I receive a new pm recently for some reason, dunno if that's a problem on my end or something that's changed here

Yeah, and I have the always send me an e-mail box ticked, but for the past week or so I haven't been getting mail when I get a new message.  Maybe the spam filter on my e-mail account has just gone tits or something though
