Well yeah it's technically feasible. If you were crazy you could buy a black LP custom for a bazillion $ and then mod it but WTF would be the point in doing that? Not that he has the money for it.
I'll say again. He aint buying that off no shelf.
Phrozen, you could find a black epi with white binding and mod that if you really wanted to. It would be faaaarrr more sensible.
In all honesty, when a good guitarist has a custom guitar I think it is awesome.
I mean, if you got the money, go for it.
I wish more good guitarists that are well off in a band had their guitars custom made even if it is just taking a current model and telling the company you want parts moved or the body adjusted so it fits your body better. If I had the money I would want an early 90's Neck Thru Bich that has all the features of the NJ other than the neck with some parts of the body left side of the guitar reduced and the knobs moved. It would better fit my style of playing and I liked the weight and headstock style of the early 90's NJ's. Basically, I would want the NJ Bich I have now without the bolt on neck and a slightly different body.
The only thing I never liked was when an artist has a custom guitar made and then the company makes a version of it that is available to the public and slaps the artist's name on it. A lot of times they charge out the bum for it, or it is a cheaper model that is just shaped like the custom one the artist had made, but all the hardware is cheap and it isn't even close to custom one. Just the shaped and has some other dude's name on it.
Would you wear underwear that has someone else's name on it? Why play a guitar that has someone else's name on it? I can understand if it is the company name, but an artist?
Then again, if you like the guitar and plays well for you and you love playin' it. Fuckin' go for it. Knock 'em dead and hopefully you can make your own custom some day.
Wonder if Finck has any more custom jobs.
