Here's a first look at one of the tastiest releases of 2008 - the Gibson Custom Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul Black Beauty...

Early in Jimmy Page's career, one of his most relied upon guitars was the three-pickup 1960 Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty" with a bigsby tailpiece. In 1970, the guitar was stolen and never recovered, but thanks to the Gibson Custom Shop, this guitar is back in the form of a new Gibson Custom Shop Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom, recently announced at NAMM.

looks pretty rad. but is it me or is the headstock uneven on the left corner.

Seems like it's uneven just because they cut and paste the picture onto a white background and fucked up, well whoever did it. You can see the guitar holder as part of the picture aswell.

Anyway, first saw this in the guitar world from last month or whenever Pagey was on the cover. I think it looks gorgeous, I've always loved the look of a bigsby on a Les Paul.

Gibson's quality control isn't what it used to be, dude. Yeah, they're still awesome guitars but for the quality, they're still awesomely overpriced too.

well i bought a Gibson Les Paul standard w/ 50's style neck for £1,500. personally the price was a steal! i saw the same guitar in bigger shops and ebay for £2,500. and it was worth every penny.

No standard 6 string electric guitar is worth more than £1000. Or should be sold for more than that, anyway.

Even that's pushing it tbh, you're only really paying for the name above that.

Unless of course it's made out of unicorn ivory and polished with dragon tears or something.

just looked it up on guiitar center and their price is 6000 the retail for it is 8588.00 a litlle riiiiiiidicolus if you ask me

The point was that all Gibsons are overpriced, not that some Gibsons are more expensive than others. No matter how much you paid for your Standard I still think my Fernandes Ravelle Elite is a better guitar (as does the other guitarist in my band who plays a Les Paul Standard) and I got it 6 months old, as new for £450.

its not exactly all so pretty and sparkle like a new custom. but it is built better and plays better than newer standard of making them. I have a 1986 Gibson Les Paul Junior wth a single p-90 pickup that screams. Somebody needed some money at the time.. so I guess I got it for a little less. Then I had Jerry Cantrell sign his name across it hahahhaa... Jerry says ' you are just going to scratch the signature off' and I say 'I don't care... it's my kick around guitar'

but now its my main guitar.

Fortus has one that looks like it but his is from the 50's ? I think he told me that it belonged to somebody famous I think but I didnt recognize the name.

It is kind of crazy the price that is marked on new Gibsons. I remember buying my 1979 Gibson Standard Les Paul with case for $550.00 (That was the price on the tag). And it was brand new.
