Les paul antique or standard?
« on: February 21, 2008, 12:49:23 PM »
or a studio?

I've decided to stop the everlasting search for a guitar with the decision to go all out and buy a gibson, that way i know i won't regret it...PRS and Fender also came close but i think il go for the Gibson.

I'll get one in sunburst or black w/ white trim i'm yet to decide.

also...i hate Les pauls with scratch plates (not a popular opinion i know) so the "classic" model goes out the window this time.

The Standard, but no matter how much enjoyment you get out of the guitar, you'll have to balance that against the severe rectal hemorrhaging resulting from the ass raping price mark up which can only be likened to the feelings of a young child who has just been sexually assaulted by their uncircumcised, rugby playing uncle.

Yes yes i know but i have no other choice unless i find one second hand somewhere, the local guitar shop burnt down the other month and everyone was looting but i stayed clear being the kind law abiding citizen that i am.

The big question is whether you want the 60's or 50's neck because classics always have a 60's(fiftties is a big c shape and the 60's a slimmer d type shape.  The other thing to consider is the pickups I really dislike the BurstBucker Pro on the standard but do like the 57 Classics on the classic antique.  I usually change mine out for Duncans anyway but if you don't plan on changing them out you should really put that under consideration. The studio has a intermediate 59' Rounded Profile which is my favorite Gibson neck but it doesn't look as good and the 490 pickups don't have a PAF type sound.... Gibson guitar are rally great once you have a neck and pickups that work for you! Good luck!!

50's necks way better for string bends. you dont catch the other strings so much

ive played em. if you find a nice one their cool. otherwise they just sound a bit weak sometimes. the standard doesnt feature so much bass with its pickups so you get a nice crunchy sound.

I had a studio...  it was dead sounding.  it was a 1997 model I think or 96. got it for $750 new just before the price hike the next year.  sold it later for like $400  >(

later years I got a 1977 custom lp for $2000 and sounded mint....    and sold it for $2000 when I moved out of the country  :D   I miss that guitar  >(
What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

Axl: I said I'm going on ChiDem now and he said whatever & walked away other than that I've been busy.

You know, if you insist on blowing like 1500 on a guitar, I would at least get something that's worth more than half that, like either a PRS Custom 22, or my personal choice...

A Duo Jet with a Bigsby that would make Ron Jeremy jealous

**edit**

that should have been an image, not a quote for the Gretsch
