Wes Clark!

Raise income tax 5% for those earning above $50000 and ABOLISH it for those earning below that.

Also despite being a retired general he wants to cut back on pentagon spending and improve public services.

But he wont win. :(

I'm having a hard time watching the news lately concerning the democrat primary because its pointless! I honestly don't think any of these candidates have a snowballs chance in hell of coming close to beating bush.

50,000? did you mean 500,000? Try raising a family on fifty thousand, or I guess it would be 25,000 if wes clark is elected.

$50000 is roughly £30000 which is far higher than the average wage of someone living in britain, the cost of living is higher here than in the usa as well so it should be manageable

I think it'll either be Kerry or that ex general.

Did you know that kerry is cousin to one of our politicians ?
Their mothers were sisters.

Should Kerry win, it would be excellent for Americano/ French politics. :pleased:

it saddens me sometime to be an american.

on "inside edition" this morning they talked about how john kerry had botox injections

i think he's gonna win though, howard dean really seems to be falling off the wagon.

jessica- is the politician an elected official? what's his title?

that's pretty interesting, i've heard obviously of relatives being politicians in the same country, but in other countries, that seems like something from the 1800s.
and all my frustration............

$50000 is about £30000 apparently so my parents did a bloody good job raising 3 children on a lot less.

Reynics :

The man is called Brice Lalonde. People travel, and obviously, the reason Kerry and him are cousins is because of that. Nothing 1800's in the matter. Just a franco/american wedding amongst thousands.

This is a bit about Brice Lalonde, Kerry's cousin :

Brice Lalonde

1968 President of the'UNEF at the Sorbonne

1971  Creates" friends of the earth"

1972 Organises the 1st bicycle march in Paris (20000 peeps)

1973 Organises the 1st expedition to Mururoa, by sailing boat, as a protest .

1974  Campain director of René DUMOND

1975  Creates the 1st free radio "RADIO VERTE"

1976 journalist at "sauvage" ( means " wilderness")

1981 Candidate for the presidential elections à l'élection

1984 Presents a program every day on FR3( 2dn national TV) called " Good News every day"

1986 Enters against Charles Hernu ( politician) as a protest against the attack organised by secret services against the Rainbow Warior ( greenpeace)

1988  Becomes Minister of the Environment

1990 Creates " Ecology Generation"

1992 Victory at the regional Elections ( 108 sits in the assembly)

May i add that should Kerry win, for the 1st time, the USA will do something about ECOLOGY.

I hope he wins.

Ex Vietnam veteran, hates war, is concerned about ecology.
Ideas i personally like.

yeah.

i had been hoping that we'd get someone who is pro-gay marriage, but at least kerry is supportive of recognized unions, so that's a start.

and he does seem like a rather smart man who has a lot of his OWN ideas and not just what the people around him tell him.

i just hope he can carry the vote of the whole country and beat bush. i can't take anymore of this guy. did you see his state of the union speech? ridiculous. i know it's the same as when most presidents do it, but all i ever hear out of his mouth is "we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that" but he never seems to know HOW to do any of it.
and all my frustration............

Bush is a silly silly man.

I have no words for him.

Hey, this is part of Kerry's program, i'll put a link to his web site under it if you want in depth details.

John Kerry on the Issues

"I'm running for President to make the country we love safer, stronger, and more secure. I'm asking every American to be a Citizen Soldier again committed to leaving no American behind."

Restoring Jobs and Rebuilding Our Economy

George W. Bush has chosen tax cuts for the wealthy and special favors for special interests over our economic future. John Kerry has a plan to rebuild our future, starting with 3 million jobs in his first 500 days â€" and a plan to ensure that workers can achieve the American Dream in our changing economy.

Winning the Peace in Iraq

What does it gain America to win a war and lose a peace? The Bush failures will cost us dearly in the months ahead, in an Iraq consumed with suspicion, resentment and continued violence. What’s needed now is leadership â€" to finish the job in Iraq the right way â€" because America can and must do better.

Access to Affordable Health Care
John Kerry believes that your family’s health is just as important as any politician in Washington. Our nation needs a leader who has the courage to take on the big insurance and drug companies to make that same health care plan affordable for every American.

Defending the American Homeland
We shouldn’t be opening firehouses in Baghdad and closing them in Brooklyn. America’s homeland security needs to take steps as big as the threats we face â€" and give our front lines the resources they need. John Kerry has a six-point plan to ensure that we are safer, stronger, and more secure on our own soil.

Creating a New Era for America's Schools
We need a president who will roll up his sleeves and get things done for America’s schools. By supporting teachers, reducing class sizes, rebuilding crumbling schools, and standing up for high standards in our public education system, John Kerry has the courage to fight for our children’s future every day.

A Cleaner and Greener America

We owe it to our families, our communities, and to our planet to elect a president who will unapologetically pursue our environmental values. Unlike the Bush Administration, where special interest rule and the environment suffers, a Kerry Administration will build its policies around citizens’ needs and aspirations.

A Principled Foreign Policy

Americans deserve a principled foreign policy backed by an enlightened self-interest and undoubted military might â€" a diplomacy shaped by our own national security. John Kerry will pursue a bold, progressive internationalism that commits America to lead the world toward liberty and prosperity.

Making College Affordable for All Americans

Today’s young people need a president who will take on the Bush tax cuts and stand up for their future â€" a leader with the courage to help them pay for, prepare for, and complete college. In a Kerry Administration, if you believe in yourself enough to work hard and do what’s right, your country will invest in you.

the thing about health care is what i'd really like to see get done.

every, and i mean every candidate we have says they will do something about health care. but it never gets done. i don't have health insurance, so when i have to go the hospital is costs anywhere from 600-1000 dollars. and health insurance costs anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars per month, so that's almost as much as i make.

if i'm not mistaken, don't our friends up north, the canadians, have free basic health care for everyone?
and all my frustration............
