Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey has said that Rockstar's forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV may ship as many as 5.8 million units globally in its first week of release.

UPDATE 5th April: looks like due to the fact that Australia doesn't have any rating above 15, they are getting a cut, edited version of GTA IV, as The Age tells

Rockstar has produced an edited version of Grand Theft Auto IV for Australia in order to obtain an MA15+ rating.

The Office of Film and Literature Classification awarded the game an MA15+ rating on December 11 last year, advising consumers that the game contains "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references".

A Rockstar spokesperson confirmed to Screen Play yesterday that the company had produced a special version of GTA IV to comply with the Australian classification system, which does not currently contain an R18+ rating, but declined to reveal what material had been cut.

One more round today in the continuing downward spiral of controversial Miami attorney Jack Thompson. Today the Florida Supreme Court sanctioned Mr. Thompson after he failed to prove that they shouldn't through his recent "show cause" order. So what does all this law jargon mean exactly? Well the long and short of it is that Thompson will no longer be able to file cases directly to the courts but instead will have to hire another lawyer to do so on his behalf. While this move won't completely muzzle the outspoken Thompson, it will certainly make it difficult for him to bring more of his frivolous lawsuits to the court's attention. Bear in mind that this is a separate issue from his disbarment trial which is currently in the works.

nah hes just a lawyer who wants to "protect the children from the violence of video games". but its been getting so out of hand, the florida supreme court put a sanction of him. hes also set to go on trial for Disbarment which if he looses, he could lose his license all together.
