RENT ROMAN!

thats right, he really is Roman Bellic but no you can't rent him, he is just a comedian having a laugh. i would pay him to say "American Titties" though. that always cracks me up when Roman says it in the game.

also in GTA Voiceover news, this dude Michael Hollick

who played Niko Bellic wants more money dammit! (Not what you expected him to look like huh?) check it out here:

So now Grand Theft Auto IV has come and gone, i started thinking, what about Grand Theft Auto V, what would i want with that. and i thought, how about they keep going and head back down to Sunny Vice City but Modern Vice City, Vice City 2010 or whenever they release it. i also thought it'd be cool to use the "V" from "Vice" as the Roman Numeral and last night i was bored so i made this in photoshop to show my point:

so where would you like GTA to go next?

I'd love that. Modern Vice City.

But I'd want the night cycle to be longer than the day (Night = 4 minute cycle, Day = 2 Minute Cycle) something like that. Think the last 30 minutes of the Miami Vice movie meets Collateral meets Grand Theft Auto. A lot of focus on tactical gunplay and a real dark, seedy storyline focusing on prostitution and drug smuggling.

They also need a lot of neon (like Las Venturas times 10) and use some nice grunge filters atop the screen to balance it out. The thing I've always called it is "gritty neon".

They also need to work out a system so that the beach can be FULL of people. Like I'm talking 300 people. If they can't do that on 360, feel free to go to PS3, whatever will give me the most realized GTA game, but I they could if Microsoft would let them use the Hard Drive as a date cache. But besides the characters, ped behavior and AI, dialogue, water/sand/lifeguard towers there's not much to render. It's just "the beach".

yea that was one thing in IV that i noticed was Times square was practically empty of people and its not like that AT ALL. like Midday was empty. like 50 people in the whole of the place haha

haha rockstar said they wanna be careful if they ever do a huge city where every walks around cos they don't want an mmo style where you have 3000 people in one city just shooting each other. he said that wouldn't be fun, or it would be but it'd get boring. he sad if they do that, they gotta do it right. i think it'd be awesome to have that but have like real life, like if you kill someone you end up in jail for a sentence and you interact with others who have. it'd be pretty sweet haha

IF they were to do a GTA MMO, I don't think they could do it properly until PS4 or the next Xbox system, the technology isn't there.

It's fine for nerd stuff like WoW with crazy big cult followings, but not for a game like Grand Theft Auto.

Basically they need to perfect the single-player GTA game before they move up. And they're still a far way off, especially with their storytelling.

Goodbye, Blue Sky......... Goodbye.

actually i thought GTA IV's story was amazing, and it kept me playing to see how it ended, thus why i finished the game in under a week. plus the acting was like oscar worthy. especially this one cutscene between Niko and Ray Boccino. i love it and Rockstar have done a great job with it. and obviously with previous games too. thus why it sold 6 million in the first week.

**spoilers if you haven't played it**

I liked the idea of Niko's story. Niko and Roman had a great relationship and they both were very likable. It seems like Rockstar was finally getting good at lighting and cutscene animation at the very end of the game which made it a bummer that there wasn't more higher-quality stuff like during missions for Jimmy.

But there's little to no character development in the game, the only part being the part where Niko contemplates killing Darko or not and they make that optional. The options don't really influence anything, there's no voiceover for Niko as you walk around Liberty or no final cutscene that is that different. Minor differences and a call from Packie or something like that, but nothing major. I liked the kill or don't kill parts with Ivan and Charise because they were expendable and your imagination fills in the gaps. But they did a great disservice to the story with making the kill Darko and Deal/Revenge scenarios because it sucked out any finality and drama in the story.

Roman grows more than Niko does. Romans' character has a high dramatic arc: he's a down-and-out gambler with a crappy cab company and he eventually gets a better company and a wife in Mallorie. Niko's just a bruiser for the most part. What he's thinking isn't very well explained and any capacity that he has for change is a subtle hint or just a passing suggestion from Kate. And the ending, either way you played them, doesn't bring much closure to the story. Even if as a director you "leave them wanting more" you have to close up the loose ends unless a direct sequel is planned, which for GTA, never happens. The story, even with it's great parts seems like a means to an end. It's not a "Immigrant's Story" nor is it a "Story of Vengeance", it's a grab-bag of ideas blended together for GTA.

That being said, I think it was their best story because of it's originality. I would say Vice City, but it's basically Miami Vice mixed in with a little Scarface and Tommy Vercetti was basically Henry Hill in Miami. So on it's on merit of creativity, that's why I'd say GTA IV has the best story. The only thing similar at all is Eastern Promises.

So in summation, the story was pretty convoluted. They state the idea "looking for someone" quite early but it's never fully realized or that properly executed. Good in theory, not as good in execution. You do get the idea that he's being jerked around and like I said, I liked it a lot, but they still have a long way to go with their storytelling.
