GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist Comments On Guest Appearance With X JAPAN - Apr. 6, 2008

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus has commented on his guest appearance with reactivated Japanese rockers X JAPAN during their three reunion shows at the Tokyo Dome at the end of March.

Also performing with X JAPAN at the Tokyo concerts was former LIMP BIZKIT and current BLACK LIGHT BURNS member Wes Borland.

"I'd like to thank X JAPAN and their fans for the kindness and generosity they showed me while I was in Japan," Fortus wrote on his web site. "It was such an incredible honor to be asked to share their stage! This was an event that I will never forget. The last night especially was very magical and incredibly emotional.

"Hide [X JAPAN's influential lead guitarist Hideto 'Hide' Matsumoto who committed suicide in May 1998] was a star of such magnitude that nobody will ever fill the hole he left. It was an honor to be able to pay tribute to him.

"I hope that i am able to do more shows with X JAPAN in the future."

X JAPAN will play its first-ever concert in the U.S. on September 13, 2008 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The band will also perform in Paris, France on July 5.

Video footage of X JAPAN's performances at the Tokyo Dome can be viewed below.

Fortus and fellow GN'R guitarist Robin Finck played X JAPAN's "Endless Rain" as part of their guitar duet during some of GN'R's Japanese shows in July 2007.

X JAPAN's new song, "I.V.", topped iTunes' daily charts upon its release on January 23 in both Overall Sales and Rock categories.

X JAPAN is the first Asian artist to chart high worldwide on iTunes and the Billboard music site Billboard.biz.

Dear Richard,

I'm glad you had loads of fun with X-Japan. Join them. Or another band. Seriously. But before you do, give Izzy a call and tell him he can have his spot back.

You rock (very) hard on stage and all , but do it for 'Guns N' Roses'.

Thanks,

PS: Come play some damn shows in your city man! Wtf? First rounds on me!
PPS: If you can get Axl to get me to replace Robin in the studio sessions for ChiDem let me know. I might be able to work it into my schedule.

I'm just saying that no one gave a shit about both when they were alive. And then BOOM!
But that always happens.

You can't deny that since he died he suddenly became 'the' guitar player.
Then again, it's only talked about in metal circles so doesn't really concern me or the rest of the world.

haha.. sorry to burst your bubble man. I think those of us who want the original band to play real rock together again have much more right behind our wishes than you people who ride Axl's jock no matter who comes in and out of the revolving joke of a door that is this Chinese Democracy band.

How having the guys who the played Gn'R music and the guy who sings Gn'R music together again could be seen as "the worst thing that could ever happen" is beyond me. How someone could NOT want to see Axl running around on stage with Slash fucking boggles my mind.

And hey wtf... I said I want Chinese Democracy to come out and even offered my guitar services on the album to help push the thing. Everyone's been in Gn'R by now, might as well give your Icon  a chance to put his name in the 40 pages of credits Axl's going to have to write.

Go drink a Dr. Pepper and get your rocks off to Axl's 3 words you people call an "update".
