Anyone think if these new Gnr songs were Radiohead or Muse they would be praised

I love how some/most sites that picked up on the leaks are bashing the new songs claiming they are not very good, we waited 10 years for this, etc etc. People can bash Axl all they want and say how these songs suck but its funny look at all the major sites picking up the story and a ton of radio stations are already playing the leaks. What other band gets their leaks played on the radio? NONE cept Guns n roses.

If the world could be a huge radio hit and not on just rock stations. The fact is if that was a radiohead song or Muse or even Cold play people would be praising it saying how brillant the songs are , but since its guns n roses they expect AFD II which if they were real gnr fans would know Axl wanted to bury AFD back in 1989.
If you took off Axls vocals and put Thome Yorks these same songs would be getting a much different reaction from the haters. People bash these songs because they are so different from AFD which is what they want. Axl even said way back in 2001 he knows he is going to lose old fans with the new style but he knows he will get new fans from the direction he is heading. 

Also, people have to understand Axl has not been working on these songs for 10 plus years. We all know he has been touring for half of the tour, and some of the time he has been screwing off not doing shit with the songs.  Most bands take about 2 years between albums. Axl is said to have 4 albums worth of material, so that is 8 yeas right there that most bands would take to make that many albums.  So Axl is only over by 2 years if you look at it that way.

Agreed.  Radiohead gets praised for doing things DIFFERENT from their old stuff, GNR gets BASHED for anything outside of the confines of AFD/UYI.

Yeah, of course.  See people bitch about songs like TWAT not having enough structure but bands like Pink Floyd and Radiohead have many songs that are far more meandering and they are regarded as masterpieces (rightfully so)

This new "Untitled" song shows a lot of influence from Queen, David Bowie, and some Genesis and Yes as well.  Once you move into that realm you will alienate a lot of the buttrockers and metalheads

At the same time, a lot of people who are into prog rock and what not won't be very interested in GnR because of what they're known for.  I have played some of the new stuff like Better and TWAT to people who don't really care for GnR and are more into the likes of Tool, Muse, Radiohead, and for the most part their reactions have been very positive.  But they were mostly caught off guard that it sounded the way it did and probably never would've even cared enough to check it out of not for me

That's what I wrote yesterday. It's not about the songs being praised, but the train of thought seems the same:

The story on other boards:

- mercilessly overproduced songs (Better, Madagascar, IRS)
- very versatile style + sound, but 'bumblingly' put together/ bad and non-fitting vocals (If the world)
- no melodies in solos, that stay in your head for more than half a minute ..
- where are the beautiful melodies at all?
- Song #2 'Prostitute' is on a level, that 'Axl + Izzy wrote three alike a day back in 1987' aka filler ..

To sum it up:
I read many disappointed comments towards these 9 versions of leaks.
On the other hand many of them stated, they could accept the band and their songs, if it weren't under the name of Guns n' Roses.

And me?
I can somehow sense, why CD isn't released yet.

Those are three of gnrs biggest and best song and guess what? And how can anyone say the new song songs untitled and if the world dont have great guitar melodies
they are just not listening, that is their loss.

dude, what are you talking about? exactly that's the point, if these songs would be new material by a man called axl rose they would be really impressive, but they aren't, they're new material from the legendary band called guns n' roses and seen as guns n roses songs they're just dissapointing! it has nothing to do with a new style guns n roses is making, ist just that these songs are far away from being as good as what guns n roses used to do on afd or the uyi's. if axl would release this music under a different name...i would say: amazing! but he's releasing it under the name guns n roses and sorry, these songs don't have the quality of guns n roses songs, because they aren't guns n roses songs, they're axl rose songs. this stuff is a shame for the legacy of the old members! that has completley nothing to do with a wishing for a afd II or a new uyi! it's because of the quality guns n roses stood for.

And Better, The Blues and I.R.S. are also good. But Rhiad sucks in my opinion....! The untitled one has hit potential..... just needs better vocals, but it is pretty good!

Some of these leaks are better than what was on AFD and UYI.
And who cares if it doesnt sound like the old stuff Sgt Peppers and Rubber Soul were NOTHING like what the beatles did before.  Its the same thing.  I put If the world and song #2 right up there with the likes of estranged and nov rain. I would even go so far to say is they are BETTER than patience and dont cry.

Not really the tides are turning Muse got accused of selling out last album, Radiohead are making a slow 'creep' lol excuse the pun towards a epic backlash Thom Yorkes solo album was pretty bad imo despite the reviews, In Rainbows is okish now the novelty has worn off, Coldplay aka Snoozeplay have been slated to high heaven with the last two albums.

The only things that have saved these bands from complete and utter failure are their fans and that's really all that matters i suppose that US the fans enjoy it..fuck the reviews mannnnnnn don't let reviews make YOUR decision in life for you.

Reviews are also rigged i mean i could not believe my eyes when i saw Lil Wayne's Tha Cater III 4 1/2 stars out of 5 LOL it's rated higher than some of the best albums ever made it's half a star better than the UYI'S and Beatles albums LOOOOL. Some serious money changed hands for that BS.

All that matters is that at least one fan enjoys it then it will have all of been worth it. Fuck the money it's just paper it's no real value or substance. Music is life changing and sometimes affects you for the rest of your life.

Well, for one these aren't final songs and the media (should) have the competence and maturity to report it as so, but of course sensationalism and slander gets more attention than reporting the facts.


But Dave's thread is right. People love shit talking and Axl is the perfect candidate because they feel it's justifiable. Well it's not. Every time new leaks have come out, the response has been more and more positive, but even so when the final album comes out I guarantee there will be TONS of backlash.

But lucky for Axl, the songs are awesome and that will eventually win out against any crap that the album takes.

I dont care if anyone else likes it as long as I do but the thing to worry about is if axl puts out CD and even if its good but gets terrible reviews we might not get the other albums axl made.  That is the only thing to worry about

they are not going to like them simply beacuse its Axl , the guy who fucked up GNR. Thats whats  on their minds, thats why Axl can release and amazing record, songs, but to people view hes the guy who is till callling this band GNR , wich is not. 

So In my mind the leaks, touch me more that everything that is out there, Better, twat, Irs, Madagascar and ofcourse the blues, for me are songs that has personallity, not just a fucking tune with some asswipe singing a flashing his voice, and singing shit without a meaning.  Thats why I love axl songs, lyrics, cause they are related to me, they have personality , they are deep, and my friends now and then in this fucked up music world that we are listening these days, nothing sound like that, not VR, not Korn, NOt whatever band you want to putt out there right now.
