Anyone watch the show Californication...  There's a part in it where they are slagging off David Duchovny's charactor (he's a writer suffering from writers block) they're basically saying that Chinese Democracy will be out before his new book is.  Surprised they didn't get sued, its not like Axl to not sue someone for thrash talking his beloved album which went to the mixing desk almost 2 years ago now and still hasn't been released.

Legal reasons be damned, there's no excuse at this stage for the album to not be released, I read the post from some other guy claiming that most bands release an album every 2 years and that Axl has been touring yada yada yada.....  Most bands may have 2 years in between albums, but they tour to promote said album for a year (maybe more) then take time off, then write the new album and then release the album and do it all over again, there's upwards of 12 - 18 months there that you can't claim as studio time but its still necessary work in the process of making an album.

This album has been in the studio process now for about 12 years, even if it is a 3 album record, by cutting out the touring, promo work, mastering and mixing and time off that every band is entitled to between albums, thats still only about 3 years of studio time.   Its been 12 years people, 12....

The general consensus on the previous mail was that if the demo's were by another band, they would be given more praise, thats bullshit....  The reason its bullshit is cause GNR have been given way more slack than any other band in history, look at the bands that this person mentioned, Radiohead, Muse and coldplay....   For starters Muse and Coldplay both created their careers since the release of GNR's last studio album, both Muse and Coldplay now have more released original material than GNR despite them having less than half the shelf life.  Radiohead were only new on the scene when GNR were touring with the Use your Illusion albums, creep didn't come out till 1992, and look at how much they have done since then.  If you ask me the problem isn't everyone else being harsh on GNR cause we've expected a higher standard from them, the problem is GNR fans giving them way more credit than they deserve for doing relatively nothing for the best part of the last 18 years.

Why do people continue to tell us things we have known for 12 years? 12 years people... 12!

Sued? For what exactly using using the oldest joke in the world? Or for thinking its funny to turn your back on a band before even hearing the music just to run out and buy the album as soon as it comes out so you can show yourself what a hypacritical sell out pussy you are.

They joke about it all the time. Even the host for the swedish Eurovision Song Contest (For you US people: A contest where shitty artist compete for a chance to win a shitty price against other european countries shitty participants) joked about it. There's a lot of references to it when it comes to thing that's going to take ages.

And yeah, Californication is a great show. Can't wait for the new episodes!

I'm sure that there are jokes that go a little further back than 12 years (not many I'm sure) how exactly am I being hypocritical???   And as for turning my back...  There's a difference between being a sap who thinks that its OK to wait for 20 years for the coming of a new album which from what I've heard so far is gonna be outdated and irrelevant anyway, and deciding that its OK to listen to other bands in the mean time...  Bands like the one's previously mentioned and quite a few others (Korn, Deftones, Green Day) have all been around for years and particularly Green Day, had their breakthrough album, brought out another couple of albums, faded away, brought out a come back album and managed to squeeze all of that in between the release of Guns N Roses last album and their current album which isn't even out yet.
I went to see GNR in 2006 and I was sure, that this time the album is coming out, it has to come out soon, they've toured Europe, you don't do a world tour unless you have an album to promote.   2 years later, nothing...

Just in case no-one's mentioned it yet, there was a tiny reference to GN'R/Axl in My Name Is Earl once. Earl said (In voiceover) something like "But, every group needs a leader. Guns N' Roses had Axl."

Whats with the wrong section crap...  This is a general Forum to discuss both GNR and Chinese Democracy right???  My thread covered both them issues?  Is the problem that I opened a new thread when a similarish thread was already in use????  I suppose I can see why a community based solely on an album that doesn't exist yet, might not like to discuss things more than once.

You shouldn't have made this thread in GNR news.

Nonetheless, I recall another reference to GNR in My Name Is Earl. I can't remember exactly what was happening but Randy made a note that listed a bunch of people and one of them was "Axel Rose" [sic].
