guess this means BH is not coming back
« on: July 26, 2008, 08:44:08 AM »
Bootsy Collins' latest project, Science Faxtion, sees the funk great merging his unmistakable bass once again with guitarist Buckethead and drummer Brain — all of whom previously played in Praxis. But for their forthcoming debut on Mascot Records, Living on Another Frequency (which should be dropping sometime in September), their goal is new.

"We wanted to challenge artists and people in the music business," Collins says. "We want to go somewhere where people haven't been yet. It's like taking that first shuttle to Venus — you don't know what that trip is going to be like, you just know you're going. People have taken the experience out of the experience, and we're trying to put that back into music and make it fun."

According to the group's singer, Greg Hampton — who also co-wrote and co-produced Alice Cooper's latest LP, Along Came a Spider — Science Faxtion began more straightforward. "It started off that it was going to be a funk record. But we started exploring this concept of the future in 2099, that entails man being melded with computer, and how music will be made." Tracks such as first single "Looking for Eden," "Life is in Deliver," "At Any Cost" and "What It Is" (which features Chuck D), certainly rock hard with an unmistakably futuristic funk sound. "We're going to use technology, before technology uses us," adds Collins. "Because that's where we're headed. We're the Paul Reveres — 'The British are coming, the British are coming! Technology is here!' "

A  U.S. tour is expected to follow the album's release.

He's got another few albums on the go as well and upcoming tours, GNR need him more than he needs them these days.

Glad to see Brian and BH where they belong happily together creating awesome shit. Axl man honestly your lucky you've got BBF in this band still cause you would never of been forgiven for fucking off such talent like Brian and BH when people look back through history and hear there contributions in Chi Dem.

I'm over Buckethead and Brain now, yes they're super cool and talented guys, but really. It's been 5 1/2 years since buckets last gn'r show and almost 2 years since Brain's last show.
I'm firmly in the Bumble/Frank camp, since they joined I think GN'R has gotten way more of a 'gang' vibe, rather than just a bunch of people thrown together, in 2002 all the band seemed really unapproachable. Now we hear from Bumble on a regular basis, and to a lesser extent Dizzy and Richard, even Axl has chimed in a couple of times this year.

On a side note, I read on a website that Axl has been in NYC recently and has been followed by papperazzi, but article mentioned that none of the passers-by knew who he was, I'll try and find a link.

Quote from: Gawker
Saw Axl Rose today outside of the Muse hotel on 46 St b/w 6th and 7th in NYC. I was crossing the street staring right at him. I had no clue it was him. He was staring at me as I was crossing the street walking toward him with this "I can't believe you are about my age (or younger) and don't know who the f*** I am!" kind of look. Then, 10 minutes later, on my return, in front of that same hotel I over heard this "security/driver guy" explaining to two young girls that yes, they did in fact see Slash. It was at this moment that I realized I saw Axl.

So according to this, Axl was meeting with Slash? I call bullshit! The person who submitted this to Gawker probably couldn't tell Axl from Scott Weiland. If Slash truly was there, maybe it was one of the other VR guys? Maybe it was Sebastian Bach having a secret meeting with Slash to audition for VR.  :O

It's a shame that BH left GNR, he's probably my favourite out of the current (1999-present) line-up minus Axl

But really, can any of us bame him? He constantly releases material and tours all the time. He was working on CD for 4 years, plus it had already been in production for 3 or 4 years before that, so it must have been very frustrating for him. As for the '02 tour, well, lets not go there.....

To me this dont mean Buckethead is not coming back go gnr. Just means he is being hes awesome self until he does. Theres no reason for Buckethead to return to Guns N Roses at this point (He did not come back to gnr because he didnt want to another 02) NOw that he sees the band can put on a world tour and not cancel it and Shackler's Revenge comes out along with Chinese Democracy he will return for the very first show and will be there until the last one. I dont see Guns N Roses touring until March of 09 at the soonest. ( Altho I do think they will put on shows VMAs, SuperBowl shit like that.) I think Buckethead loves GUns N Roses very very much , I remember he said he got a doll from Axl and saw it as a sign that this was his destiny, And listen to the interview from 03 , he sounded so fucking excited....... Nothing happend thats why he left hes good enough to say fuck you if Axl wont release shit, But now Axl is and now Buckethead will come back and help take over the world. The only problem this could present is conflict of touring dates but we dont know when either band is putting shows on so until then to me this is no big deal , Bucketheads been making music since he left and will continue to this is no different.

Im listening to nottingham lace right now and man so many of bucketheads bad ass songs would sound awesome with an angry axl yelling at the world.

I think this band is a lot closer then we think, they just know the magnitude of all of this and keep quiet and calm about it as best they can. Buckethead is a beloved member of Guns N Roses from the bands point of view and Buckethead loves Guns N Roses. Im sure there has been a lot of communication with him and brain over the last couple of weeks and things are all good. I dont see Axl and Buckets relationship  being like Axls and Slash's I think they talked alot leading up to the announement of Shackler's Revenge. Agreeing with everyone that GnR needs Buckethead more then Buckethead needing GnR , I think the band will stop at nothing to get the masked genious home. ( altho I dont think its going to be that hard he only left because all of this great music that the band was making was seeming to never be released. )

The sound that Bucket and Brain make together is the best Drummer/Guitar player in music today, Just think of that mix with Pitman,Finck,Dizzy,Tommy,Richard and Axl fucking Rose... man listening to Buckethead music has got me the most excited ive been for Chinese Democracy then anything has in quite awhile.

That was a pretty good post AndAndew dude and filled with points to consider.

I mean let's be honest it takes time with BH you have to give the man what he want's and you can't rush perfection.

Axl and BH are like kindred eccentrics what BH has to remember is that although he doesn't need GNR anymore to boost his profile as he's now tapped the wider audience and enjoyed huge boosts in record sales, the bottom line fact is there is a big band there willing to put up with him and offer him his desires.

Now the only problem is BBF and BH in the same band imo never going to happen, Limelight hogging etc. etc. if you asked Ron he'd love the idea as the great guy he is and it's an amazing mindblowing pant staining thought but maybe when the shit hits the fan cracks may start to appear and immovable force meets and unstoppable object = shit that Axl Rose will not be able to temper or resolve.

Ya I was playing my madden franchis last night and I thought to myself "man Id love to keep them both aboard"(talking about my 2 all star players)" If I can afford it " and I thought of Axl and Guns N roses, made me laugh thinking of axl doing the same thing only with real all star players. I would love to see Bucket and Bumble live together, and so would Axl I think. (maybe another reason finck might be gone for good , its getting to crowded and he will be overlooked and after all he has been there longer then any other guitar player in gnr history) I dont think Buckethead would mind either hes not a selfish ass I dont think. But I do believe for once in Buckets career he wants to be the lead guitar player of a HUGE band , he wants to be the universal guitar player for GNR so if push comes to shove bumblefoot will be kindly asked to leave. (but hey you can still put on some shows with us huh bumble?) altho buckethead is so damn good it might not come to that because even with bumble in the band people are still going to know that Buckethead is the best.

Also IMO this is actually going to help GnR not hurt it. (Like I said I think Buckethead is coming back) Guns N Roses lead guitar player getting his name out there with stuff that has never been done before (like Chinese Democracy) will help the album.

That's the thing though the old music business is dead basically fuck the old rules.

I've been laughed at for saying it before but Old GNR Reunion would sell yeah but then after that an Allstars GNR tour.

It sounds ludicrous  in concept but the fact is if Axl starves the public enough like he has been doing all these years people will pay the $45 to go see him.

Imagine billing Slash and BH on the same tour or BH and BBF there's enough fans there to justify it. Especially when Axl can take the tours to places that as individual artists they can't like a BH european tour is like gold dust.

Screw the tours even Axl please just get with the times rotating artists on songs the future is the internet i mean can you all imagine a Slash & BBF solo with Axl's vocals on a song talk about mind-blowing.

Alas these things are merely pipe dreams but in the future expect artists to conform to these ideals as $$$$$$ is the major factor here.

i was just reading an article called Chinese Whispers in the october 2008 issue of guitar world and it says how after bucket head had requested a chicken coop built in the studio he had also requested a tv in the coop so he could watch porn while he records.
the article is all about Tom Zutaut and how he has helped GNR over the years.
