'everything'
« on: August 08, 2008, 08:30:31 PM »
does anyone else think that the 'everything' cover done by axl was probably the best cover he has ever done or worked on.

i think the song is really beautiful, and real bittersweet. Its like there is a sense of accomplishment in his success. However in the lyrics it says 'everything a man could ever want' although it dosn't mention love, and i think thats the founding message of this song, and why axl sounds all emotional on it.

I've learned it on piano if anyone wants a tab btw.

i think it was performed only once, at a show in Australia in 93.  But not definite.

I too agree this is his best cover.  I wish he did a studio version, like for the intro to an album.

Also I'm not sure exactly what you meant by what you think the song means you weren't really descriptive enough.  But imo I believe this song is about someone who has everything they could ever want but yet feels so empty, possibly because of love like you said or for no reason at all.

All of GNR's solos have been amazing, thats just something great about GNR concerts every time they solo or jam it's always something special (Slash - Godfather, Dizzy - Angie, Axl - It's Alright, Bumblefoot - Don't Cry etc.)

there's the tab, the bass parts are only tabbed real basically, so u can add more to that, same with some of the single notes, i play them as chords but only tabbed as single notes.

Hope u like it, any ideas for improvements welcome.

also, i only tabbed the end piano solo part, however it pretty much follows the vocal melody, so if you want to add more it should be pretty easy  :)

I've seen a mistake in my tabbing, when the second line starts, the bass notes are C not G.

a little off topic but since this thread has strayed this way.....It'd be cool if we had a thread just for piano how-to gnr songs.  On youtube theres alot of people who have piano tutorials and show step by step.  I personally never took lessons and started learning piano about a year ago just from youtube videos.  I can't read notes very well, I'm much better by just memorizing it and then playing the whole song.
