Yeah, theres definately a difference. He seems now to start high, and go higher. And it seems less violent if you know what I mean. Like back in the early 90's when he sounded like his throat was gonna explode (I loved that by the way) just the evilution of his voice I guess. But the new stuff is harder to hit.
Im not a singer but I think it has to do with the new stuff more focused around hitting certain notes where as alot of the old stuff could just be screamed and it would sound at least half decent
I have been singing for a year and a half now, and I notice that it seems harder to sing the new gnr songs, than it is the older ones. Do any of you other singer notice the same thing???? I dont know if its just me, or the new songs are acutally harder to sing.
i find it harder to sing old stuff. his new stuff isnt hard on the vocal chords or neck (how i love to headbang)
I agree his old style is tough on the chords, but he's starting out alot higher than he used to, and then inturn, he continues to go even higher. Like in "Message For You" or Song #2, whatever, he starts out pretty high for such a soft beginning to the song, and then flys up when he gets to "I saw the damage in you" then goes higher at "What would you say if I" and then and then the ridiculously high "fortune and fam" part. It's just all a different octave. I love it though. It's his evelution I guess.
When i sing i just have managed to nearly master that same risp and hard rockin' voice of Axl's once you have mastered it and you can do a good handfull of gigs doing old material then and only then may you have a chance of signing the new stuff, its all about if you have the voice or not!!, Risp is the word, and you cant try and fake it you have to have that sound,
The Blues is just fuckin pipe-blowing man
