Wouldn't an exclusive release be bad?

If CD was released and only distributed by either Wal*Mart or Best Buy wouldn't that put a huge cap on the market for CD?  I mean I am sure they will have enough copies but I think any and every store that sells CD's should have it.  It is more convenient for the customers.

I agree with you. An exclusive would be a bad idea. Although if they picked certain stores to release exclusive  versions of cd that would sell great. Think about it, Best buy sells Cd with two bonus tracks, and Wal-mart sells CD with these two bonus tracks. I dont know about you, but I would be buying CD in everystore that had it, to get the different bonuse tracks.

Have you seen walmart and their companies, they are like all over the place. You will have a better chance finding Walmart than a record store. Walmart is one huge one stop store; it has a deli, all grocerys, clothing, pets and pet supplies, McDonald's, All electronics, cleaning supplies, guns and ammo, music,  toys, furniture, pharmacy, and some are starting medical clinics, plus you can order everything online through walmart too.


The eagles had like the highest selling album of the year just by going through walmart. So yeah it works. Plus who do you think can distribute all that free Dr. Pepper?

I suppose but it would only generate more sales to have CD in ALL places that sell CDs, such as malls, book stores, all retail stores with CDs.

not necessarily, with a walmart exclusive there can be a price reduction because it is exclusive  and a greater push with advertising (placing endcaps by the cash registers and what not)    lets say it is conventional and sells everywhere for 14.99..  casual and curious fans are less likely to pick it up ..  But with an exclusive deal like the eagles. Millions of people shop at wal marts..  they are going to check out and.. There is a display with 200 copies of Chinese Democracy for 8.88.. Non die hards and the curious will be more likely to buy 3 to 1 with the "last minute item" and when it is released I am sure  either negative or positive it will be talked about all over the place, people will be curious.. and if it's more affordable it will sell just like the eagles

 Walmart sells numerous DVDs with questionable content, I bought Caligula there !   now as a Wal Mart exclusive with heavy push you may be right .. but Money is the only language that walmart cares about .. I am sure some middle ground will be reached before the release ..    Thinking more about it Best Buy may be a more logical choice but Wal mart would sell more

I'm sure it will be released normally in europe and in other parts of the world.. so dont worry
