If you are not in Vegas, make a donation on the site. I just made mine.
Everyone needs to pick up BBF's new album, Abnormal. I recently caught up with him for a brief chat.
Strigl: Can you tell me if you have any plans for solo dates or gigs?
Bumblefoot: Only gig in the works right now is the 2-day "Rock Against Diabetes" show in Las Vegas, Aug 22/23. Jamming classic rock covers with guys from Thin Lizzy, the Cult, the Rockstar INXS/Supernova house band, Constantine Maroulis singin',gonna be a fun two nights! After that, we'll see what happens...
Strigl: How long did you spend recording the Abnormal CD?
Bumblefoot: Started recording last November '07, everything was mixed, mastered and ready for manufacturing by May '08. Started with drums and scratch tracks, then bass, rhythm guitar, vocals, solos, extra stuff like tuba, violin, cello, xylophone, opera singers, then mixed and mastered it.
Strigl: When were these songs written?
Bumblefoot: In October, about half the album just came flying out of my head. It usually happens that way - a long dry spell, then out of nowhere they all come flyin' out. I had a few songs in the archives waiting for the right time - I posted info about a few of the songs at

Bumblefoot: Last show I saw was Judas Priest playing a party at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC, private performance. It was mind blowing man, seeing them up close like that.
Strigl: Thanks Ron!!!!
The Get Thrashed film is being released on DVD on 9/16 (same day as the Metallica release). This is a great documentary put together by Rick Ernst and former Overkill drummer Rat Skates. If you were too young remember the birth and rise of thrash metal this is one of the only documentations of this important part of the history of metal.
Yesterday Metallica posted one of their new songs on their MySpace page.
The mellow beginning section is good.
4:05 in - Classic Metallica has returned!!!! Yes.
6:30 - Thank the metal gods, a killer guitar solo by Kirk. This man's fingers still fly.
End: This track gave me goose bumps. I have high hopes for this album and so far I have not been let down. Too bad Metallica recently passed on an interview with Talking Metal.
My good friend Casey Chaos is doing well and he will soon be kicking our asses once again. Casey is an underground punk metal king who is one of the greatest performers and songwriters of our time. As some of you might have read, he is getting clean and simultaneously finishing the new Amen album from rehab. What you might not know is that is currently sharing some space with a certain heavy weight tattooed faced guy at Hollywood's most famous reheb center, we won't mention any names... but let's just say this guy could also kick your ass. Download Amen and SCUM (Casey's Black Metal /punk hybrid with member of Emperor and Turbonegro) on iTunes.
Next week will be full of metal... John and I plan to meet up with Head (formerly of Korn) for lunch and then check out some new In This Moment songs at a private NYC show. I think John has some other things going on too, which hopefully he'll blog about.
Have an outstanding weekend!
