Hey guys looks like we got another one that is stuck in the 80's   :(

Like or dislike what he said, this new music does not sound like anything GNR to me from the band I grew up listening too.  I know that is debatable because everyone hears differntly, just my opinion.

I wonder if Axl was able to release the album in secrecy, with no leaks, none of us even knowing he was recording, and it got released as a different band name, would anyone be able to recognize it as GNR?  If all you had to base the sound off of, I would say no.

Anyways, I do like new GNR, but so far I am still stuck on classic GNR: 80's AND 90's!

yea ur right it does not sound like old gnr thats a good thing. But dude the biggest thing with music to me is the ability to move forward musically NEVER backwards ever and Axl has always done that and with the wait and changes in music hes doing it again in the biggest way ever just wait for CD ull see.

a watered down version of a singer that was once great, subtract all the venom and identity represented by his former bandmates, and add a little generic mix of everything bad from every other generic pop music genre since 95, and u have the current gnr sound

actually that's a fair assessment.  take off your gnr-colored glasses & play any of the new tracks to an unknowing music fan.  i've done it myself.  the reaction is usually, "ehh, it's ok.  kind of lack-luster."

play the new tracks to any rock fan, new OR old, and they'll spit in your face when you tell them it's Guns N' Roses.

I once even got this...
"How can a band that was once so good wind up sucking so bad????"
I had to explain that it's not Guns N' Roses anymore.

I would describe it as, "different, experimental, and very melodic " and a cross between 80's & 90's alt-rock, millenium-Nu-Metal, and slight industrial sounds.  Also, a thorough mix of random influences from Axl's personal collection.

I have no doubt the new CD will be great.  And I agree with your statement about bands needing/wanting to evolve.  That's true, and GNR has evolved, but that does not mean they have evolved to a better band than old GNR (my opinion only).

The sad thing for me, I love GNR more than any band.  Been a die hard since 1988, when I first heard them.  Never turned back.  But I hear the leaks and just think how much better music I've heard from other bands (new Slipknot for example).  No music I've heard can touch AFD or UYI, but I'm hoping Axl and the new band will prove me wrong.

We have not even heard the album yet. and theres no simple answer to this question and thats why I love new gnr. so many influences in just the 9 tracks we have heard its amazing.
It was a tuesday in October and the pressure seemed to mount like the smileing faces of all those involved.

I`m AFD UYI GNR fan just cause I cant judge the NEW GNR yet. I heard the leaks and I`ve see them play in 2006 but I think you can say nothing yet. SR is kinda finished but the rest is to demo to judge. When one of you let me hear the demos from November rain before the song was finished I would never have said it would be the best song ever. So lets wait and see if we can like the new gnr like we like the old gnr.
I think so..!

"DESPERATION ROCK?" or
"BAD 90's INDUSTRIAL/80's vocal era show off rock?"

I love everything except for the "industrial rock" stuff, maybe I'm just burn't out with industrial music now? as I was a massive industrial fan (nin/stabbing W/robzombie/filter/kmfdm etc.) and they DID it 100% better than Axl. sorry but it's true.

I'm not bashing gnr just giving my opinion.

Hard Rock blues with a pop sounding industrial feel.
