  carry on though .. you get points on that though .. I have never heard that used before

LOL, I only said it because my mom listens to the Bee Gee's.  She own's one CD and it's their Greatest Hits... go figure

I want to clarify something.  To L!ve, and the rest who are reading...

I have always supported W.A.R.  He was my idol when I was 7 years old, I've supported GNR & Axl, and obviouslt to this day, I'm still die hard.  It's funny.  I find myself defending GNR outside of this board, and until I'm blue in the face- always talking up & making sense of "C.D.," the band, etc.  I am very very loyal to this band, both past & present - through all the ups & downs.

And yet, on the boards, I find myself rebelling against the "new-schoolers" who seemingly have little to no idea what got us to this point.  It truly is a saga.

The fact is, I have listened and studied (and enjoyed) the demos thoroughly.  I think the music is ahead of it's time.  It's as different - night & day, as AFD is to UYI - which if you are a music fan, you can begin to understand.

I do feel that this record has massive potential.  I feel extremely frustrated with a few things, however, which likely leads to this angst.  Among the most important issues, here is what bothers me:

1.  The album IS good.  So, like everyone - the obvious question: Why the wait?  Not over the past 14 years, we know the reason for that.  Why the wait from late '06, throughout '07, and up to now.  Why no statements?  Why no Axl?  Why no promo, updates, etc.  And why, oh why no record???

2.  The material on the leaks is stunning, BUT i feel it's still missing firepower.  Ahem.  Old school homers know what I mean.

3.  Why is it that WAR stays hidden in the shadows and mystifies himself?  Is this Willy Wonka-like mystique what he is aiming for?  Or is there some underlying issue fermenting?  We all deserve to know why there are no statements.  An updated promo shot would have been PERFECT just in time for RB2.  People need to place a name with the face of the "new" Gunners (all of whom are not even new at all).

I make jokes often about the 536 Guns fans that support the new band, especially on this board.  But the truth is, 70% of us are THE MOST dedicated Guns N' Roses (and Axl, in general) fans in the entire world.  This is a fact.  The other 30% on here are new fans, younger generation, and haven't had the chance to grow up with the band.

It truly hurts me, as a LIFELONG fan, and *supporter* of Axl, and GNR (both old and new), and to think that WAR is neglecting us by alienating us.  It hurts.  I wish Axl knew that we are people too, with normal lives, and yet, we still have an undying passion for him & for this band.  And that we want this whole thing he's worked so hard for - to succeed.  And it hurts us to know that things are shady.

Sorry for the long post.  I wanted to clear this up.  Great responses, great debates, and awesome chatting as always with you guys.

PS- L!VE, I'm in LA right now too.  What part are you in?  PM.

Nice post my friend.  Agree with much of what you said.  Especially this - " 2.  The material on the leaks is stunning, BUT i feel it's still missing firepower.  Ahem.  Old school homers know what I mean."

I can say one thing is for sure.  Love the old band, love the new band, we all have one thing in common.  We want Chinese Democracy to be released.

Ok... I've got a few things to say.

1. To everyone who is bringing up the 2002 VMAs. They sucked. We know. There's nothing new there and it was just a premature return not well thought out.

2. What's with all the bashing of Slash, Duff and VR? Everyone here is a huge Axl fan undoubtedly but to say VR hasn't put out anything worth while is such a lie. There's at least 5 or 6 great songs if you combine the 2 albums. Of course there are some mediocre ones but Shackler's isn't exactly a 'paradise city'. (My head's going to get ripped off for this comment)

3. I really don't believe there will be a reunion before CD gets released. It might be cool if Slash and Duff come back for a tour of the new leaks but the members who have been here should get credit for the work they've done. None of the New GNR members should be tossed aside at all.

4. I like New Gnr and the leaks are the best thing in music right now for me. What I like better though is Appetite, Lies and the Illusions. There are songs like "The Blues" and "TWAT" that could easily rank among some of the best GNR (Axl) ever did, but I also find that the original guys brought that extra kick to the band. I don't hear it as much anymore.

New GNR is like listening to November Rain without the outro. Still awesome, but it doesn't quite have the power to take it over the top.

exactly my point, bro.

it's still "pretty" but lacks that GNR firepower.

And your basing this off of?

9 premature leaked demos (man if some of the demos from illusions were leaked as people waited for the albums what would they of said?)

A constant media shower of close minded bullshit , with the same old jokes and the same old shit.. even after 15 fucking years.

Perhaps Axl didnt want the band to break up but they just werent as open minded as him? Could you imagine the old gnr coming out with a record in lets say 98 or 99 with the new band as just guest members in an effort to take GnR to the level they needed to be to fit in , in this day n age music. Axl was the only one to see that , Ya were fucking great but times are changing and so is influence and music and he was the only one with the balls to try and take it over as well. The old band says it was just to hard to work with Axl , Maybe because Axl was completely obsessed with making more music and didnt like Slash getting drunk or GnR's lack of faith and desire to stay at number 1 rather then just live off the old albums. Now of course Slash and Duff and Matt have all changed there tune possibly because they have heard Axls Tunes or because they realise that Axl was in the right all along.

Lets look at the facts shall we? Guns N Roses have been put under a microscope like no other, this album has been bashed, hated, laughed at and its not even out yet. We have 1 song from Chinese Democracy...........1.

And its fucking awesome.

Like Zakk said "Its like Appetite on steroids."
It was a tuesday in October and the pressure seemed to mount like the smileing faces of all those involved.

Shackler's Revenge is good but you know, so is November Rain.

This stuff is good but it isnt, I repeat isn't Guns n Roses, and that's where the difference is. It is impossible for there to ever be a time where the public go 'Oh awesome, it doesnt matter about Slash not being there'. Slash was the axeman of GNR and he's gone.

Can yopu honestly see Chinese Democracy making an Appetite or Nevermind impact?

This is Axl's own project now, carrying the GNR name with him and that will always be a problem no matter what. It will take a couple of releases first for people to get used to the idea. Delays make it worse.

God people just wont let go of the past, I think from now on any talk should be from 99 or sooner.

SLASH was the OLD guitar player for a great version of Guns N Roses... THATS IT. . ITS OVER. until we get the album we shouldnt judge the album.

A lot of people said the same thing about the illusions. GN'R changed every year. If they did Appetite over again, they would be considered old and stuck in the past. It's time to move on. Even if the entire band got back together, they still wouldn't make music like old GN'R. Times have changed. Let Go!
If you don't like Chinese Democracy, please pull your head out of your ass and listen again!

These leaks are near studio quality unlike the UYI ones.  What you hear in the leaks wll be very similar to what you hear on the album.  Maybe an extra cow bell part here and there, but basically very close.

A constant media shower of close minded bullshit , with the same old jokes and the same old shit.. even after 15 fucking years.

Possibly has something to do with the JOKE Axl has turned GNR in to.  People think Axl is weird, like Michale Jackson.  They call him a hermit, says he listens to future tellers, ect.

...Maybe because Axl was completely obsessed with making more music and didnt like Slash getting drunk or GnR's lack of faith and desire to stay at number 1

Wow, more music.  I believe the former members have released more music thus far than Axl.  Whether you like their solo stuff or not, at least they put stuff out.

...rather then just live off the old albums.

Surely you're not forgetting that Axl plays almost ALL of AFD.  Not a song or two, almost ALL OF IT.

Now of course Slash and Duff and Matt have all changed there tune possibly because they have heard Axls Tunes or because they realise that Axl was in the right all along.

Or maybe they just loved the music  and want to kick our asses again.

Come on guys... Axl would never reunite with the old guys. He's worked too hard on the new album and putting together a new band. He WILL NEVER throw that away. Keep dreaming...
