There is something weird about that. One thing being it says Axl was born in 1961, why wouldn't the other leaks be named? Why wouldn't those both be under the guns n roses name when you search gnr?  :arrow:AND WHY is Shacklers Revenge not on there? That is the only song that has been actually released.

Many unreleased songs could be listed, prolly under a pseudo names/titles for obvious reasons.

this country is very fucked up about the whole copyright thing.. Gene Simmons (kiss.. though i am sure all of you know that)  Tried and I believe succeeded to copyright the term "OJ" for orange juice.. so if any company used it or said it in a commercial he would have to get royalties..  he also copyrighted the little money bag symbol that has been used for hundreds of years.. so if anybody uses it for anything (comic books, paintings, movies, etc..  They have to pay the all mighty gene.

it is extremely odd that the copyrights are in pitmans name.. it is possible that they had him do it, to try and avoid some legal loop hole

This is why Gene is a genius.

Why would Universal rat the guy out over songs that aren't copyrighted, if they were supposedly set for release?

Theoretically, copyright protections begin at the moment of authorship rather than at the time the paperwork is filed.  While there may be no paperwork proclaiming the legal holder of the copyright, the intellectual property is still protected. What's more, the recordings themselves belong to Universal Music Group (or whichever branch of that company is writing the checks) regardless of whether they've officially copyrighted them, as they're essentially "work for hire" (the recordings, not the songs themselves) there isn't any question of authorship of the recordings and so Universal can take whatever legal action is necessary to protect their property.

good read

ha ha clyde
i had a cat called clyde
is pitman's sister called bonnie :P

although copyright starts at the moment of cretion

registered copyright is what will win
so if it was not filed for a month after the leaks
then technically cogill is in the clear

No he isn't. Regardless of when copyright is filed for the songs or the recordings there must be a pre-existing agreement between the band and the label as to who owns what rights related to either. Given that no label is going to hand a band $13 Million to make an album without having paperwork in place naming them the sole owner, author and rights-holder of any recording made with that money, there can be no argument as to who owns the distribution rights for those recordings. Given that there's also no question that the leaker breached those rights and that there are a ton of laws in place prohibiting him from distributing those recordings in any form he is, technically, up shit creek.

Why would the songs be copyrighted under pitman's name?

Because he wants to save his ass, royalties, etc...
Maybe to prevent from possible lawsuits in the future.

That has probably nothing to do with Skwerl, in my opinion.

Dont you think this means that these two songs have probably been selected to appear in movies/on movie soundtracks?
