Marketing: Looking for the Reason Shacklers isnt being promoted.

Shacklers Revenge has come and gone and another chapter in the ill fated Chinese Democracy is closed.  We will look back in 2 years and recall it as just another point in the never ending fools gold hope that will never be called Chinese Democracy.  There was a time where I was so excited about this album and actually wished Axl would release it because the songs are so brilliant it would have taken the music industry by storm.  However with having all the leaks what's the point so we get some better versions of the songs we have been listening to for years now.  The only difference is we get a CD cover and a booklet with some lyrics and artwork which don't get me wrong would have been awesome but come on enough is enough.  I just thought heck I know these songs by heart now I listen to them all the time what's the difference.  It's more of a disappointment in Axl seeing as the album is becoming less of a legend and more of a joke as year after year goes by.  Just think if he would have released the album 2 years ago after he claimed he ended the tour to finish the album and record a music video what happened with that nothing of course.

I think it's not supposed to be the first single, with radio, a videoclip on tv and all that. That's why it's not being promoted. Just a piece for a video game, as well as OMG was a piece for soundtrack but except of 2001, they didn't play it any more, just one of the chapters of the CD saga.
But we'll see.

no problem and i do understand what you mean, im just curious about it because i dont know wall marts policies that well, i read some of the lirics of the metallica album and they speak of suicide and other stuff that a conservative party might find not so to their liking.
So if anyone bought the album in Walmart did they find it edited. That way i could get an idea of the kind of censorship they use there.

The only thing Wal-mart edits is language. Talk about killing, suicide and whatever else all day long as long as it doesn't have four letter words.
And for people saying about AFD a majority of the edited cds are new cds. Avenged Sevenfold's selftitled for instance. It only had 2 songs with Fuck in them a few times and they edited it.

Well, as for Wal-mart, the main reason why I will totally stay out of their record section is because everything is edited.  They won't sell a record with a parental advisory unless it has been edited and if fuck, shit, heroin, damnit, dick, piss, cock, poon, gaping female love canal, or anything like that is on it the record will be edited.

I mean, there is always room for firsts, but Wal-mart won't do that because they have to appeal to the Xtian fundies which make up for the majority of their shoppers.

If there was an exclusive to go by it would be Best Buy, but it all depends on who pays the label more money.  Honestly, I can't picture Wal-mart even being a big seller of this.  They'll sell more American Idol records than this.  Just the way they are and their customers that shop there for anything other than food.

LOL...just saw this thread...uh dude it isn't being promoted because t...get this...here is literally no chance in hell this will be GNR's first single in 15 years.  It's a B-Side would be my guess and most likely the lable used RB2 as a vehicle and Shackler's just as a little nugget thrown out there to keep the hype alive (though that faded fast) on the off chance the label can push out CD before the end of the year.

The game has been out for 1 day, I would say wait a little while to jump to conclusions.
To the fans: the only thing that can satiate us is the album. Some nothing will please them. Pity.

However you're not looking at this in perspective: this is the first official release from Guns N' Roses
in 9 years and the song is getting good reviews from most people. This song is helping to re-introduce
the world to the band and the new members. And it's a great and effective way to get people into the band again.

However, hopefully this will be the beginning of the whole promotion campaign for the album, but at the very least it's putting out an awesome, very unique industrial tinged pop rocker, and I am excited for the possibilities.

I dont get the optimistic sounds here anymore. Where does that come from?

But the fact remains, it's just a contribution to a videogame soundtrack. There wasn't any real suggestion that it was the vanguard of something bigger, there was just a lot of rumor and speculation.

Maybe they are not promoting SR because it is not the first single of Chin. Dem. But this is a big step, the big machine is rolling!!!
