actually music deals with movies are not done that way. they buy the liscense and pay the band for use of the song. the band could receive a cut of the movie from dvd sales and from any deals made when it reaches television, but usually the band will recieve an upfront amount of money for the initial use in the movie.

soundtrack...yes, movie no.  People think this movie wanted a unreleased GNR song to get people to come see the movie.  It's the other way around, GNR wanted their song in the movie since they knew the timing would be around the release of the album.

The band was paid something for their song, but they do not get money for everytime someone buys a ticket to see the movie.  Sorry, just isn't the case.

Now, if GNR decided to be on the soundtrack album, yes, they would make money per record sold.  But, sorry, not the movie.
