I think it's a valid question myself and one I've struggled with.

Like I said before, there has to be a line drawn somewhere to say abortion is no longer ok but where do you draw that line? When does the ball of cells become a human life?

Is a Zygote not a human life because it isn't conscious? Well, it will be in nine months time, something you can't say about some people in comas. Are they not human lives?

Defining what human life is and isn't can be a very, very grey area.

Objectively we're all as fucked as the ants we step on walking down the street, or the chickens we breed to turn into mc chicken sandwiches, the trees we cut down to turn into paper etc. etc.


There's no great secret to life really.

Unless theres a new black plague, world disaster, world war or we suddenly invent infinte resources or start bailing into space.

Suicides and abortions are doing us a favour in the long run no matter how evil it seems, Cause if we carry on at projected rates it'll be hello china's one child policy in the century or could just be massive failure and riots when stuff starts running out more so than it is doing now = death & carnage grand scale in the long run.

The truely evil thing is the idea that the world is a infinte resource and can survive and provide everyone having 3 or 4 kids and an expected standard of living. We're in a danger of breeding ourselves into extinction.

I agree completely that overpopulation will be one of the biggest problems the human race will have to face. Even though death might help, in all its forms, that doesn't necessarily mean it's moral. It's definitely worth thinking about before we start allowing abortions willy nilly for the sake of some kind of morbid pragmatism.

Probably, when genetic engineering matures fully, people will be sterilised at birth so they can't breed. You'd more than likely have to apply for a licence to have children, at which point you could be re-activated reproductively. A solution like this depends on how much that level of technology would have penetrated the developing world though. More than likely, such a measure would only be viable in the western world (where it wouldn't really be needed).

Ok I understand your trying to get your point across here, BUT not all abortion cases happen when that baby has no heart rate. Some do, but Some happen when the baby does have a heart rate, and like I said before some happen very very late in the pregnancy stage. ITS WRONG, TAKING A LIFE IS WRONG!!!!!!

So you're against war ? against poverty ? I think we should concentrate on making life of already born humans better than waste our time on choosing when abortion are ethically correct in your eyes. The question of a precedent poster was interesting, what's an human ? How you define it ? How can you argue over something with another one if the definition of the concept are not the same for you two. What is human life?   Ok say you are pregnant, and you havent been for long, like you just found out.  You are out eating lunch with your friend and her daughter, you are both talking about the news, when the little girl pipes in and asks wha you are talking about, what pregnant means.  The mother or yourself would probably say "it means she is going to have a baby, but the baby has to stay in mommys tummy for a while before it can come out" or something to that effect.  So in short human life start immediately, now whether or not you feel that is ture life then thats you. Regardless there is something there, something innocent and sweet.  It may not be developed into anything yet.  But it is something, regardless.   A cell isnt gonna hold an opinion, but all things fight for survival, so it does "want" to live.  I think the descision on abortion comes down to "if that was me in my mothers womb and she was debating to let me live or not, how greatful would I be that she gave me the chance?"
