True, fact of the matter is that there are a hell of a lot of people out there who just do not want a black man as President.  Race is a massive issue in this campaign, there's absolutely no getting away from it and while most people may not come out and say directly that the colour of Obama's skin is affecting their decision, do you really think that if he was white he'd have to deal with all the accusations of being a muslim or a wannabe terrorist?

And while there probably aren't as many Obama supporters who don't think a white man should be President he will obviously be picking up some votes as a result of his ethnicity too.

To single out a couple of idiots at a Palin rally as racist because they bought the bullshit the Republican campaign machine has been subtly trying to pin on Obama for the past few months seems a bit unfair.  A far fairer charge would be to look at the campaign strategy as a whole and see how ugly it's been and that race has been used as a weapon by both sides at various points.
