Axl Plays To A Backing Track...?
« on: November 15, 2008, 06:08:58 AM »
I know this shouldn't really qualify as news but i keep meaning to ask, it is as if he plays to a vocal track live, it is especially noticeable during the opening riff of sweet child but even more so throughout better especially at the chorus..what do you guys think?  :paranoid:

I"m skeptical of literally every touring act out today.

Axl starts and stops songs spontaneously so often that I have a hard time believing he's using backing tracks, at least most of the time (Jungle in Australia last year, for example, when he 'talks' the first verse...sound guy didn't know he was gonna do that...)

Or the 2002 VMAs...if he was EVER gonna use backing tracks it was there, and for better or worse he was definitely live.

Just my two cents.

There's also pretty simple live-sound processing - reverb, delay... etc. But hell, your church can do that.

On RIR3 during WTTJ,I think they pre-recorded "you where the fuck you are?" because his voice was so fucked up there but otherwise,Axl doesn't play to back tracks. He's not fucking Mill Vanilla :D

Don't think so.

I have long not respected the opinons of the masses when it comes to Axl's voice. Because they fall for fake "leaks" and mis-labeled songs... like attributing Bon Jovi songs to GNR.

No, it wasn't pre-recorded, it was the same style and tone for that show. It's similar to his Live Era re-dubs.

He does not use a backing  track, its called reverb and he has an echo effect on his mic.
It also run through a filter like most lead singers do

axl has stopped tons of tons to yell at fans or has changed lyrics of songs, put them in a different order, and if he had a backing  track you would know this.  Anyone who thinks Axl uses a backing track has not seen him live

Also dont go by youtube vidoes, those are always out of synch

Go watch its so easy at RIR3, when he stops to kick a fan out, you dont haer axl still singing on a backing track when he yells get that guy out  of here do you?

i think the guy meant backing tracks, as if they recorded the songs in a take, together, as a band. guitars, drums and everything together with axl singing, like a a gig. or if they recorded the track, and then axl just came in after and laid his vocals on it then left.

unfortunately i would vote for the second choice...

the guy was talking about LIVE SHOWS.

and no one really does 'live' recording in the studio like what you said... ... ...

It is Chris Pitman that helps Axl during the high/slow parts at the beginning and end of Better. If Axl used a backing track it is either the most sophisticated or the worst cuz Axl is all over the map on any given night....that is why i love him live its never the same thing twice.
