Re: What happens if Best Buy goes bankrupt! lol
« Reply #60 on: December 17, 2008, 11:42:46 PM »
Sooo you know that in order for Best Buy to promote the album they first need the approval of Axl and the record label for every single item right? Which is why they only used 2 year old pictures of Axl in a couple of ads. You can't promote an album if you have no promotional material given and approved from the record label.

but .. didn't Axl say that there were certain strategies in place that were totally ignored by best buy  and that is why he didn't cooperate ..
Best buy got the exclusive rights to the album , it was signed over to them. It was there job to promote it with or without Axl .. shit   I've seen one commercial, maybe 2 one page ad (only a week before the record was out)  and shit something in their flyers..   They dropped the ball not Axl ..    Shit it was chinese democracy for christs sake and these fuckers didn't even promote it as the event that it should have been.. fuck they acted like douche bags when they were asked about a midnight release.  AC/DC and Metallica had a blitz of coverage and hype  best buy didn't do shit

I wouldn't even go into a best buy store if it wasn't for chinese democracy .. and another thing and it's still happening, people have told me (fans of GNR no less)  that they wouldn't even have known the album was even out if it wasn't for me telling them.  now I guess part of that could be the lack of promo on GNRs part  with no video and what not.. but Best buy could have done a shit load more

The album isn't dead by any means though

Zitat:

©©The world can be how beautiful nevertheless! What great year for hard skirt and Metal fan of old days. Metallica gotten with one old school beat of a kettledrum around the curve, AC/DC bring a cool album to the start and even the incomprehensible, which passes unbelievable ones, the absolutely legendary and. Axl brings rose to W finally " Chinese Democracy" to the man. Nearly 20 years and schlappe 20 million dollar production costs after the first announcements that comes probably means desired skirt album, the perhaps last really large skirt N roll volume of user time on the market and I, ever a current Review of my first love Guns N' Roses, which " me with their, would have never dared to dream; Appetites OF Destruction" Masterpiece into the late 80ern the world skirt and opened, writes to be allowed. Memories of hundreds accompanied hours passed by return of post caused in those me this volume, which a whole generation affected. Great Stadionrockshows and ingenious video tie-clips flutter inevitably vorm imaginary eye, despite everything will me however - already puts on me despite the mega+rose-pink eyeglasses, alone the name these volume - endeavor to remain as objective as possible... ... and I admit: It already needed in or other rotation, before even my fewness of a those hard Gunners fan with this very day always increasing size of the full package " Chinese Democracy" and the secret, to old large acts hanging became warm, fantasies to strip could let really blossom around the modern sound of skirt „of the new "Guns N' Roses in itself. At the first sight appears " Chinese Democracy" despite mad Artwork, old schooligem signature and a Axl rose in Topform quite bulkily and own. After repeated runs however it emerges as absolute masterpiece, in which many more typical added put, than one wanted to believe at first. While the fat title TRACK with its juicy Intro that old-established Gunners fan can to make happy still by return of post, will it at the beginning of particularly in the first half the disk nevertheless quite with difficulty to approach very modern song. Without question is " Shackler's Revenge" a Industrial hard skirt Kracher with fat up-to-date Grooves, mad Vocals, a brilliant bridge and a Hammerrefrain. However this, is only unusual at the second or third view as perfect hit song which can be constituted just  as that " likewise modern instrumented and with stamping SAM of effective melody and super singing lines equipped; Better". With brilliant Refrain, childlike choirs, great Vocallines and dezent driving Groove mutated " Better" but likewise to the irresistible ear worm, as an inconspicuously great " There which A Time" , with all its epischen beauty and that magnificent symphonischen final with Streichern and mehrstimmigen choirs. " Catcher in The Rye" strikes into the same notch. A carried ballade with Pianountermalung. A in-usual Midtempoohrwurm. Harmoniously, very British and in the course of the time likewise endgeil, as that " again very modern and funkig coolly groovende; Riyadh N' The Beduins" , whose mutate vertrackte Bridge and geiler Chorus with the time to the absolute Earcatcher. One " oneself thus only with this song of; Chinese Democracy" made friends and their true size recognized, and then the remainder of the disk becomes the triumph course. Superb the monumental " Street OF Dreams" (so far " under the work title; The Blues" admits) leaves " just like absolutely ingenious mini pos; Madagascar" Memories of the Opus and beauty " Use Your Illusion" Mammutsongs mark " Estranged" bud, brings the tears near and ignites just as by return of post as a simply beautiful and exclusively Queen confession going with Pianoklängen under-old deeply under the skin " This I Love". Not enough there is that with the melancholy psychedelic Ballade " Sorry" , as well as an impudently hit-suspicious ear worm as " IRS" (perhaps the highlight of the disk) and the final, goose skin producing Streicherballade " Prostitude" still three killers, and at the end of the journey absolute satisfaction and far more than one expecting was allowed! Master Axl rose exceeds trimmed hammer album all expectations with one absolutely on long-term effect and shows its musical class more than impressively. Second " Appetites For Destruction" just as little was to be expected, how the timeless Bombast skirt N roll perfection of the two " Use Your Illusion" Masterpieces. The inexpressible feeling of a Mr. Rose for large, episches Songwriting is however at any time inescapably audible, the love for the detail in " Chinese Democracy" puts is just as all honours worth, as the unkommerzielle adjustment. Many refined refinement are to be discovered, shy-capless modern adjustment, go conformal with epischer beauty, dezent inserted Streichern, used large Piano parts and some technical Raffinesse, in order to reveal under line again and again that typical Guns N' Roses flair, which one dreamed of. This " new" Guns N' Roses do not have always the magic of the original, strip one however all the deeply festgewurzelten memories of bombastische Genialität and sleazige world class, then one is " with a modern hard skirt album as; Chinese Democracy" - after some objectively motivated starting time - without question completely happy, its goose skin moments will be able without reservation to enjoy and a multiplicity at absolute hits will constitute. ... and at most skirt N roll at this album is for me anyway the fact that Axl rose one therefore shit yourself shears who holds which from its album, because to safety consciousness sounds definitely differently and on Promoactivitis has it anyway shit! But like that, is and remains Axl rose was and but is entitled to one of the last large rock stars and charismatic Frontman of our time all respect!

I MAY have said that they shared some similarities to a point if only he didn't mention Shackler's. That guy is an idiot.

Lots of generalizations in this review and very little supporting evidence. I do believe him when he writes this was meant to be more than just another Axl-basher. He also makes some claims that I believe could be developed into valid criticisms. Ultimately, however, he fails miserably at communicating these ideas due to poor writing skills and what I perceive to be an overall lack of effort.

He throws a bunch of baseless adjectives around to rip GN'R - usually Axl specifically - throughout the review. However, the sole criticism of the actual album he's reviewing seems to be that the songs are too similar. One could support this by pointing out how some songs are structured practically identical to others - such as TWAT and Madagascar. One could support this by taking two similar songs - such as IRS and Scraped - and explaining how they're similar.

Instead, he simply lists a bunch of randomly chosen tracks and piles on more adjectives and generalizations. Saying that the songs "blend into a solid block of auditory misery" doesn't tell us anything useful about the music. All it tells us is that the reviewer is horrible at writing descriptions. Furthermore, while this could have been a valid point, some of the songs he's listed are not similar at all. I'd question how anyone who's actually listened to the full album could declare that Shacker's Revenge and Prostitute are "indistinguishable from each other". Hence, my assertion that there was not much effort put into this review.

This review was basically the equivalent of a 13-year old's blog post. I did get a laugh out of the "multiple personality disorder" line, so there was at least some redeeming value to it.   :D

In the RALPH magazine, think its the latest issue, has the ex High 5 Kelly girl in it (very niiiiice!)

They had the 100 wankers of 2008 and after like number 25 you could tell they were just throwing in random people lawl

Number 57: Axl Rose

From Ultimate Guitar..

"12. Guns N Roses: "Chinese Democracy" (2008)

Nobody expected a masterpiece but to spend so long producing such a steaming pile of shit is almost hilarious. It is bereft of anything even resembling listenable music and is as charming as Axl Rose himself.

Despite some relatively positive reviews from critics upon its initial release, "Chinese Democracy" has aged as nicely as full fat milk left in direct sunlight for 12 months. An absolute stinker! "

A little harsh but when you're "Guns N' Roses" you're going to be held to high standards.

And that excuse a lot of people make where they say "people had their hopes too high" is bullshit.

If any team, player, big mac, or anything anyone is use to getting a certain amount of hits, wins, taste or whatever from.. and they buy or pay for said product and it doesn't deliver. Guess what.. it now sucks and you've been ripped off.

I like Axl. I like what he can do with music but selling this shit as Guns N' Roses has me (and millions of others) feeling very ripped off.

CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED ALBUMS IN MUSIC

In the oversaturated world of pop and rock music, a lot of good records don't get the attention they deserve. Or they get unfairly critically lambasted and nobody buys them.

On the other hand, some records get a disproportionate amount of accolades and everyone in the entire freakin' world buys them. Even if they're not that great.

Pop music history is littered with records both wildly overrated and criminally underrated. Over here you have our list of overrated albums. We didn't always agree, and it very nearly came to fisticuffs a few times (*AHEM* Eminem *Cough*). But we worked it out as best we could.

And here are some of those underrated records. They're not the MOST underrated. There are WAY too many to narrow it down like that. They are simply records we think deserve another look for one reason or another.

Weigh in below about which albums you think are underrated.

1. The Music, The Music (2002)
2. A Grand Don't Come for Free, The Streets (2004)

3. Chinese Democracy, Guns N Roses (2008): There was NO WAY this album wasn't going to be underrated - too much waiting, too much hype, too much pessimism/guarded optimism. 'Chinese Democracy' sold 5 million copies, which would be awesome for most bands but we're talking about GNR here. It's not a masterpiece but the vocals are great, the musical experimentation is highly sophisticated and the whole thing is bombastic and utterly unapologetically power pop metal. So clearly a labour of love it would be ungenerous not to give it its due.

4. he Ego Has Landed, Robbie Williams (1999)
5. #1 Record, Big Star (1972)
6. Blackout, Britney Spears (2007)
7. Midnight Vultures, Beck (1999)
8. Liz Phair, Liz Phair (2003)
9. ome Gave All, Billy Ray Cyrus (1992)
10. Fearless, Jazmine Sullivan (2008)

it's so fun to be a GNR fan

I don't feel "ripped off" when I bought the album,
Hell no..
I thought: this may be worth the while waiting for the album..
and the album doesn't suck,
I see it more like: it is GnR but then in a new way..
