One of the least played recorded songs by the new lineup, "Oh My God" was played live only four times in 2001. In an interview with Guitarworks in April 2003, rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus mentioned he was planning on using his Anderson Baritom guitar on a future tour while performing the song. In 2006, however, "Oh My God" remained absent from the setlist during the band's European and North American tours.

Quote
TAGW: Has the Baritom been a benefit to you?

Richard: The longer scale is great! It keeps the low-end really tight, not floppy at all. There is nothing heavier sounding than that guitar! Every session I've used it on, the producers lose their minds. Plus, it actually plays in tune! That's a first for any baritone I've ever used.

TAGW: Which songs do you play on the Baritom?

Richard: Haven't used it live yet with G n' R. I'm going to use it on "Oh My God" and "Silkworms" (from the forthcoming Chinese Democracy record) live. I've used it in the studio on the new BT record and also on the new Deep Dish record.

I really like OMG, hope it turns up on a later album, since it's too good to remain stranded on a soundtrack. I would have put it on CD instead of 'If The World', but that's just me. hope it turns up, another solid GnR rocker that should take its place in the main gnr discography and not be a collectors-only-item :tear:

What happened with this track? I know its a very old track at this stage, from 9 years ago, but surely when the final tracklisting was being prepared they realised that this track was the very first taster of the bands new lineup.

If they wanted to use the new lineup, could they not have re recorded the song with the latest incarnation, and perhaps added some tweaks and mods? (since the track on End Of Days is supposed to have been a demo version)

And for those who say that the band rejected the song when they didn't perform it live after 2001, Riad and the Bedouins wasn't performed live since 2002, and yet this song still survived to get on the album. What do people think?

Just like the 'old demos' we got to hear for the last couple of years. :p

They should have put it on the album, there's space for it and I don't think it would have been out of place. Hell it's probably from the same sessions as most of these songs.

I think OMG was omitted because it sounded a little like Scraped-meets-Shackler. But hope it gets on the next album, cos as I said, it's really one of their better rockers (it beats Scraped or Shotgun Blues in my world, but still, ALL gnr tracks beat most other songs :D)

well oh my god has ben rerecording and it might be on the 2 album or the 3 album and Riad N' The Bedouins was a tester and it was also a weak song and it was not suppose to be on the album but it made it on there as a strong hardcore song ;)

Mark my words.

There is a guy on GNR Source who said that if Guns N Roses released Chinese Democracy in 2008 he would fuck his own sister and eat dog shit.

Dr Pepper are currently being cautioned, legally, because they taught GNR would not release this album in 2008 and then got caught out for making a promise they couldnt keep

In the meantime, we hear all this stuff like Mark My Words and Trust Me, I'm sorry man but you dont know one way or the other. Chris Pitman told me, personally, that Silkworms was so far removed from what Guns N Roses were doing now the band decided not to put it on Chinese Democracy. Does that mean if the song is put on another GNR album we will all turn around and say 'Hey, you cant do that, that song is xx years old, it hasnt been played live since 2001..."

I believe Oh My God should have been released by the band in place of Scraped, thats my personal opinion, and you have your personal opinion.

I think it should be there and Scraped shouldn't...but who knows. I don't like scraped and I don't like Oh My God either. It's too industrial.

I think Oh My God and Silkworms would be on the same album because they have a similar sound.  Here's hoping they're on the next.

Oh my god was my favorite song from new gnr and i was really sad it wasnt on the album. I actually questioned Pittman and Frank Ferrer on their myspaces if the song is buried or not, but they didnt answer.

I know there was a rumor that gnr made a better version of oh my god according to dizzy but i dunno if this totally true or accurate.

I wish the song would have been on CD, but probably the reason it wasnt was because it was made by guys who were not in the band.. like Dave Navarro for example. Probably Axl didnt want Dave Navarro to collect more royalties at Gnr's Cost since he must have collected it with the first version of oh my god.. Remember this guy used to be scheduled to go on studio but he would always not show up. Maybe that made Axl not want him to receive credits for GNR songs.

BUT! the band played it on rock in rio 2001, so they must know how to play it and it would be a great addiction.
