im not at all satisfied with it, i like it tho. doesnt sound at all like gnr.

also the songs sound like there were recorded like they were (recorded by alot of people and in differnt times).
doesnt sound at all consistent. the recordings were clearly overdubbed (something the original lineup would have frowned upon), and mr rose doesnt sound like anything like is youngerself, sounds like for all these years he hasnt at least done any vocal pratices to keep his voice in shape, his arrogance probably plays a big part in that.

i feel sorry for him, hes a sad lonely old man.

That is what I said

Ron and Frank playing improved many of the songs.

The songs are better than the leaks.  Only CITR may the leak have sounded better.  I do like Ron's solo better than May's.
It has the same structure and feel as May's but I think Ron's has more energy.

They did not improve the leaks. 90% of what ron added was not needed and just make the songs sound more disjointed.
Ron made riyadh worse, and he re did BHs CITR solo who re did brian mays. Im sure BHs solo was better.

Ron just added filler to the songs that were not needed
Its like making the perfect pizza then ron comes in and adds extra toppings that are not needed and in the end just make you more bloated.

They both ruined better
That was one of the best songs on CD now its one of the worse
Just listen how incosistent better sounds now, its like something if messing with the volume on the song
For example, 1:08 the drums are too loud in the mix (franks drums)
1:14-1:21 the music goes HIGHER than Lower bc of the unneeded guitar part
Then again at 2:05 the extra loud drum beats that are out of place
then again 2:10 to 2:17 the sound fluxations again bc they pasted in unneeded guitar riffs
That is just the first part of the song, not to mention the out of place slider over the middle part

Anyways

my listing
Sorry
This I love
Prostitute
TWAT
Maddy
CITR
SR
The blues
If the world
Scraped
CD
Riyadh
Better
IRS

Every song on the album is a good song. A lot of songs would have been much better if they hadn't been so bloated by the parade of musicians all placing their stamp on each track over the years.

Overall, Chinese Democracy is not as good as Use Your Illusion I/II, or Appetite For Destruction. Considering UYI and AFD were almost flawless, CD is still a great album and likely the best release of 2008.

Chinese Democracy is consistently epic, but it lacks a monster track such as UYI I's Coma or November Rain, UYI II's Estranged and Locomotive, and AFD's Paradise City and Sweet Child Of Mine.

It's hard to rate the songs considering I've been listening to some as far back as 2006, so the vanity has worn off.

Sorry (Catchiest song on the album)
Catcher (My personal favorite, tied with Sorry)
There Was A Time (The grandest song on this album)
Prostitute (The climax of this song is orgasmic. It build up perfectly and has great dynamic)
Street Of Dreams (The better of the two Piano Ballads)
Madagascar (I'm tired of the song considering it's been out in some shape or form for almost 7 years. I had to weigh that heavily in ranking Madagascar. Considering the 100's of times I've heard this song, it's still a great tune.)
If The World (The Sqwerl leaked demo was okay. The mix really makes the final version memorable. It has a bit of a Trip Hop vibe which sets it apart. A tad funky.)
This I Love (I expected this song to sound happy and upbeat judging by the descriptions, instead we got a ballad filled with emotion and desperation. The most bare bones song on the album when looking at instrumentals, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.)
Better (The best "rocker" on the album. Very good choice for a first single.)
Scraped (Very catchy, reminds me of UYI era Guns+17 guitarists.)
Riad (The drums are phenomenal in this song. It's a very good tune, but I wouldn't miss it if it were to be taken off)
IRS (This song has been out for almost as long as Madagascar and The Blues. It's a definite skip)
Chinese Democracy (The intro is awesome. The actual song is a very mediocre in comparison to the other material on the album. Although this song is one of the worst on the album, it has it's spot on the album if for nothing more than historical purposes.)
Shackler's Revenge (I would have been happy to see this stay off the album and instead be a Rock Band only release. It would have freed up some space for a new track or the much anticipated "Checkmate". It's a good rocker that takes time to grow on you, but nothing more.)

Well I just decided to listen to some of the songs tonight on myspace. I'm saving a couple but I decided to listen to "sorry", and all I can say is wow. It's amazing to say the least. I'm not reviewing CD yet until i here the whole thing through at least like 5 times.

That was my plan too but I realized there's no point considering I'll just end up coming home and putting the CD into the computer anyway. My car doesn't have a cd player. Still waiting on This I Love and a couple others though.

1 - Chinese Democracy : this one is skippable for me. it's hard for me not to skip it sometimes but it's so so
2 - Shackler's Revenge : i do enjoy this tune quite a bit; the guitars are definitely worth waiting for
3 - Better : they definitely made it better!
4 - Street of Dreams : still one of my favorites all though the ending "inside of you" part seems kind of tacky
5 - If the World : neat intro with some revamped percussions. very good
6 - There Was a Time : amazing
7 - Catcher in the Rye : amazing continued
8 - Scraped : fucking sweet.
9 - Riad N' the bedouins : AWESOME percussions. i was asleep with the album on repeat and this one woke me up. very reminiscent of 'right next door to hell,' which is a favorite
10 - Sorry : doom'ish, not really my style but awesome guitars
11 - IRS : this song is fucking rad.
12 - Madasgascar : good stuff
13 - This I Love : cannot get enough of this one; deserves to be on repeat for at least 1 hour
14 - Prostitute : lovely track. the ending orchestral piece reminds me of the serenity also exhibited in 'claire de lune'

This has been the high point of my 2008 year. glad to be apart of the history in the process and will cherish this album for years to come
I'm sorry for you, not sorry for me!
