I would have liked to hear OMG on the album a better version of it would have made a nice addition
liked the old version apart from the intro but i'm sure they could have fixed it like rhiad
maybe it's style was to diffrent for this album but it's sound would be more fitting to one of the later more rocky albums

I hope no one minds my intrusion here with a stupid post.

I've never been much of a Gun & Roses fan or even a fan of metal UNTIL I GOT THIS CD!

I can't stop listening to Chinese Democracy!  I think it is absolutely brilliant!    Great melodies, great arrangements--the songs go every which way when you least expect it!  And the vocals are incredible.

How many singers can do what Axl is doing?

I just figured this would be the place to exclaim how floored I am!

Thanks for listening.

None... Axl is by far and large the greatest vocalist ever.

Just listened to the earlier GN'R albums... C.D. easily holds its own against them... not comparing apples and oranges, but the musicianship on C.D. is more complex, the production is tight (sure it's almost 20 years into the future recording-wise), and the album just sounds FAT - a wall of sound. Oh, and there happen to be a bunch of really strong tracks on it...  :)

"There Was A Time" (hate the acronym!) is definitely my favourite GN'R track.

Nothing, just I love it.  I love it.  I've waited a long time and I love it.  Did I tell you I love it.  I'm 40.  I've been waiting to hear new music from Axl since I was 23.  Yes, I took his advice and lived my life.  But I'm glad I lived long enough to hear from him!

I love Chinese Democracy.  I have it in CD and vinyl.

Brilliant album.  Not worth 17 years wait, but neither would be fucking jessia alba after 17 years of no sex.

10 tracks just standout.  Classics even.  4 average tracks that are still ok.

Those other 10 will keep my coming back for a long time.

Must say, Axl absolutely sings his arse off on this album... IMO easily his best vocal performance on a GN'R album, and if anything, he is a better singer now than back in the day- something that is often the other way around (a singer's voice deteriorates and their vocal range contracts over time).

One could surmise/argue that the magic plugin "autotune" is being used throughout the album, and I can virtually guarantee that it is there, albeit merely to tighten a line or a harmony. But we know Axl can sing, so he isn't relying on autotune to make him sound passable (again a very common occurrence in today's music "talent not required" industry).

First off Appetite was a landmark album, probably the greatest rock album ever made. So, to hold Axl or anyone associated with that album up to the same standards is insane.  Axl and co at that time did not even know what they had created.  Axl could or never can live up to, much less Slash or Izzy, any thing done on that album period, so lets move on.
Who is to say now who the real creative genius was or is.  Izzy certainly knows hooks and melody one listen to any Ju Ju Hounds album revels this and Slash, well is Slash, no ones licks compare and I Think Axl knew this.

Do you think it could be easy to go from obscure to millionaire, without repercussions?

Ego's exist and can not be avoided, but Axl is moving on with this album, while there is obvious pain, he is working it out, I hope for the next album we get past who ever broke hs heart,

I for one would like to see the millionaires put aside there differences and make an album far all time, but then I think we already got that and it was called AFD.

I for one after 6 listens like the record, its deep, maybe to deep for the average listener, who my give up after 2 or 3 spins, but this album will grow on you, if you give it a chance,

I think Axl has written an awesome record and it was worth the wait, I would still like to see the old crew come togrther and make an album.

I've never been a huge GNR fan, like what I heard but I never followed them.  I bought Chinese Democracry because I was excited about hearing some good rock tunes, tired or radio-pop.  Anyways, it's amazing, really great stuff Axl!!  really really grows on you, sounds great!  I already had the cd, but my wife bought me the vinyl for christmas...wow!!!  It was a long time axl, but you didn't dissapoint :)

ps.  I went to the GNR show here in Calgary last time you were here (a couple of years ago), had never seen GNR before, a friend wanted me to go, anyways, amazing show, come back to calgary anytime!!
