The whole thing is based around that progression (maybe not the second half of the solo, I'm checking that right now). That's with the guitar tuned half a step down (Eb Bb Gb Db Ab Eb).

I've actually been trying to write out the piano, but I'm not all that experienced with piano stuff, so I've only gotten up to the last part of the verse. :/

Is the piano part in Dminor/Fmajor? I think thats what i came up with

I think the song's key is G#minor/Bmajor.

Alternate tunings still muddle me up a bit.

Honestly, you should figure it out for yourself. This solo is really easy to figure out and play, and it's good practice.

hmm i'll see if u can figure the solo out... not sure though, most of the time i only get like halfway and then quit

is the guitar that's playing the solo also tuned down or only the rhythm guitar?

I find that it's safe to assume that all GnR guitars are tuned down half a step.

There's only very few exceptions, and even then, that's mostly just to tune the lowest string down to Db for a few CD songs.

I think most people who say this are selling themselves short. It's always going to be hard to start off with, but this solo is a pretty good one to start with.

The first few notes might take a while, but once you get a feel, it quickly gets easier.
