drumming on CD - good or bad?
« on: November 25, 2008, 04:15:13 PM »
Who else thinks that the drumming on CD is a bit mechanical and, well, simple... I wish we had  more moments like the ones at the ending of Chinese Democracy, Sorry (!!!) and Scraped.

Just to clarify, I do not imply that the drummers suck, it's just that the songs are structured in a way that prevented the drummers from showing their full potential.

i love it
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

The songs dont allow the drummers to showcase their talents. Weve all heard songs where the drums are amazing and take songs further...Not a big pumpkins fan, but Jimmy Chamberlin can do so much within a simple structure of a song...The drums rock hard on some of CD. Does everyone remember when Axl asked Zutaut to get the Nirvana drumming sound down from Nevermind? I thought I recognized it in IRS, right before axls scream towards the end, and on RATB. Could be wrong tho

This topic makes me think of the shit drumming in A7X and those kind of bands.

But the drumming here is fine.

The drumming is great, the fills at the end of CITR are awesome.

On Riad I can hear the Zeppelin influence as well.
