Ok if this is true the sales figures so far sound very promising and this is without Axl and GnR promoting it at all.

Imagine if Axl was out there doing promotion and performing. I don't get why he is not doing it?! Where is the video for 'Better' too?!

West's New Album Will Approach 500k, as Guns (300k), Ludacris (225k) and The Killers (200k) All Trail

Kanye's the king of Thanksgiving week.
West's Roc-a-Fella/Def Jam album, 808s and Heartbreak, in which he tackles the Auto-Tuner and his own inner demons, will be #1 on next Tuesday's chart with a total that looks to be between 450-500k.

That'll be more than enough to beat back Axl Rose and his first Guns N' Roses album in some 15 years, Chinese Democracy, which will move around 300k, more or less, out of Best Buy outlets. And that's including the 25k or so not counted opening week at iTunes for the Sunday release.

Ludacris' Island Def Jam album, Theater of the Mind, looks good for 225k, followed by the other one of IDJ's big holiday power trio, The Killers' Day and Age, clocking in with 200k more or less.

 
I must say, is Axl's fault, and it makes me depressed, i wanted this record to make it big, but for a record that costs $13 million+ and 15 years in the making this is a commercial failure. Axl should show some respect for himself, his band and the fans, stop being a fucking pussy and show his face and promote this album. If this keeps selling like this, forget about second cd, this could be the end of this madness...

Sounds like it's doing better overseas than here in the states.
But regardless of first week sales, hopefully it will consistently sell. Even though there were the leaks and all that,
I was on my way to work today and I was thinking "man this is an incredible album".

People who are biased/etc. are missing out on something spectacular.

Today I had my first listen to it in my car, and boy there hasn't been an album with the sound quality since Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell 2. BTW Chinese Democracy's sound quality is about 50 times better than Bat Out of Hell 2. Furthermore it is the most solid album in the last 20 years... It is just as solid as Appetite for Destruction...

In Holland 'chinese democracy' went Gold on the first day, 30.000 copies sold.
