Biggest Suprise?
« on: November 27, 2008, 02:42:44 PM »
This might be hard because just about all of us had heard bits in pieces of the album over the last three years but of what was the biggest surprise for you on Chinese Democracy? like, what was the song that was like "wow, I didn't expect that"
For me it was Shacklers Revenge, just the delivery in the verse was like, very different than anything I expected
IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!

the utter rape and pillage in This I Love's chorus, as well as Ron's most excellent additions in Better and winsy solo in Catcher in the Rye.

scraped-so strange (excellent song) but was not what i expected at all
this i love-insane song i didn't buy into the hype but it is my favourite song on the cd
riad-hated the leak with a passion yet i love the final version and the flappy noises at the beginning made me think chinese democracy was too awesome for my cars speakers
twat-somethings changed not sure what but it's awesome
catcher-brian may appears to be missing not bothered either way but it was a bit of a shock is all
chinese democracy-nothing since i heard the leaks but it sounds like a different song to the 2002 and live footage at rock in rio
better-the leak sounded copy and pasted from 4 different songs but the final version sounds more fluent, but over all the screaming in 4 of the lines never really saw axl doing that before
madagascar-hasn't changed much
IRS-see madagascar
prostitute-expected more sleaze in that song but i'm happy with what i got
sorry-i am so happy axl finally explored the deeper end of his range properly in a different genre
shaklers-sounds kinda chaotic and all over the place but who can deny the solo outro and chorus's the verses and the bwo bwo bwo ba dang dang dang thing are a little random for my taste but they don't deny it's insane quality
street of dreams-big improvement from the blues leaks particularly the latest leak before the cd
if the world-was bold for the band but i love it the solo sounds fresh as a guitar sound, and the pan setting bit in the middle is something i love

I really like the backing growls Axl added to the chorus of TWAT.

Also that the record has the most impressive mix I've ever heard.

If The World was the biggest surprise for me, but not in a good way. Luckily the finished version is much better than the demo.

And luckily for me, I didn't hear the demo yet :)

I knew better, madagascar etc., all the older leaked stuff and stuff being played on concerts...
For me, the biggest surprise is the fact, that CD is finally out and that it's not shit. It fuckin' rocks, what I never expected...
