Fuck off!!!  The songs are piss to play.  There is nothing remotely complicated about the music or chord changes on the whole album.  VR have a more complicated song structure than anything on CD. Tommy is shit (accept it - Duff smokes him by a fucking mile).  Matt (Sorum - the guy everyone hates) has the technical ability to play any of those drum tracks.  Axl/Dizzy on piano.  Finck is shit, as is Fortus.  So that leaves the only challenging technical parts to be Ron's and Buckets stupid tapping or shred widdling (I do like bucket btw).  Any of the tapping rubbish could be replaced with a proper solo with some feeling and buckets better stuff on the album (Sorry, TWAT for example) is hardly technical.

I love the new album but it fucks me right off when I hear shit like the music is so technical.  It's not, it's very simple indeed.

Good post man. I totally agree with that tapping bullshit being easily replaced by a real solo.  Give Slash a bottle of Jack and a copy of the CD and he'll come up with something nasty for each song I'm sure.

No, I believe Axl has a little bit too much pride for he's own work. So much pride that he doesn't care if it sells well or not cause he knows it's a great album no matter how much it sells. He probably knows that over time, it will get the recognition it deserves. And it probably will, especially if GNR has two other masterpieces waiting to get released.

My guess on what happened.

I'm guessing this could be his last album contract with Geffen Records so basically he's saying fuck you , i done the album , i wanted to release it last year, and if you guys want to release it this year, go ahead, i'm not helping in the promotion.

Geffen probably pissed off Axl when they wanted to do the BEST BUY deal as it was a way to recoup back all the millions spend. Maybe axl was insulted that the label had no faith in the potential sales figure of CD.

So Geffen panicked and then decided to go ahead with the BEST BUY deal anyway since where they could have upfront sales of the cds without worrying about the sales. The only thing that surprised me is how stupid Best Buy are, paying so much money and then fucking up their promotion of the album and losing out on their end of the deal. Basically financially at least, axl and geffen are not worried about the album sales.

End result

AXL = AWOL AND PO but Free Agent probably
Geffen= Ride off a huge debt and some profits from worldwide sales long term

Didn't Irvine or whoever the manager is said something about a huge promotional campaign ? I guess it was probably the Dr Pepper verbal war and lawsuit threats? Well, any news is still good news they think.

 All they need to kick off the sales of the CD is probably a couple of MVs on MTV, like how AFD kick off you know?  I hate to say so, but outside  of the GNR fans, most fans of rock and pop don't even know about CD release much. As it is, GNR are more or less a new act to them because they don't know their history.  Sad truth is the majority of today fans minus those who download music from online will be more in tuned with the next Kanye west or Green day album.

So
- A few MV for MTV
- plus a bloody tour all over the world
- A appearance at big music event (VMA 2002)
 will raise awareness among causal fans because that;s what the media will cover, i'm talking TV, radio, newspaper, the traditional mainstream media coverage in a positive buzzworthy way. Not dr pepper lawsuit or the negative reviews or mockery of the 15 years timeline.

Will it happen? Nope! Axl will probably be busy celebrating and holidaying until the new year. Something tells me he';ll make one of his statement then in 2009 January so i don't expect any public comments from him until 2009.

Do u ppl really think Axl cares if this record is an epic fail bc it didnt land #1 on the charts I mean cmon the man poured his heart out for this album and delivered it to us fans so everybody that says its Axl's fault for lack of promotion need to shut the hell up or have someone shove a corncob up there asses!
