Good to see the Pope has his priorities right....
« on: December 23, 2008, 08:39:44 AM »
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7796663.stm

Apparently its more important to eradicate homosexuality - we might stop breeding you see - than to save the environment. What else can we expect from that most absurd, fairy-tale centred religion that is Catholicism. And just to make it better there's a right wing psycho at the top; well second top if you believe that stuff.

Anyway, to follow this up i did a quick interview with Pope Benedict XVI

Me - Shall we save the rainforests?

Il Papa - No. Its much more important we protect humankind.

Me - What do you mean Holy Father?

Il Papa - Too many gays. The gays are spreading. Not enough shagg... i mean copulation. God said 'go forth and multiply'; not 'have gay sex' - i've checked.

Me - But what about the thousands of child abuse scandals in the catholic church?

Il Papa - Errrm. (Thats enough. Ed.).

I enjoyed your interview with the pope  :D.

I dont think anybody really listens to the pope anymore, well they listen but take little notice, that's what I do anyway.

The influence of the church is deminishing year on year, people are turning away from the church and it must be due to out dated views like this.

Id be surprised if the pope really knew what homosexuality involved anyway. I always find it rich how people that are not married or have children are the ones to preach about marriage & children  :retard:. It just shows the value of the churches opinion.

I'm okay with someone being gay as long as he's not gay towards me in any way.
There some amongst my friends who haven chosen this 'sexual orientation' but are sensible enough to see that some people are not as open minded as other since it's quite a new thing to them. I have absolutely no problem with people going that way -- hell, others like animals or minors or kitchen appliances -- but I don't have much sympathy for two dudes or two chicks making out publicly while on a train and then complain about being mocked by adolescents.  :?:

The problem with our society seems to be that we have the right to speak our opinion on everything but some things we all need to tolerate. If you go out and say 'I don't like hardlining christians', for the mere argument of their sexual practices, everybody will understand. But if you're out there stating 'I don't like people with homosexual orientation' (notice how I securely navigated the term "faggot"), you'll be the only person to be hanging from the nearest tree since 1937, or at least the only caucasian person.

If you care about my two cents, I don't have to tolerate anything. I have to respect my fellow people as the individuals they are. But tolerating means giving in completely. What freedom means to me is the right to speak your opinion in a non-harmful or non-discriminating way. If you're not able to formulate arguments on that level, shut the hell up -- you'd abuse your right of free speech anyway, uttering bullshit and idiotic slurs that upset people.

In my world, stating that you don't like clowns is the same as stating that you don't like homosexuals or olympic swimmers or anything else. Because every person is an individual based upon the same biologic setup, the same chance to take opportunities and make something out of their lives. Every person is wonderful in his/her own way. And if people would finally get that through their skulls, there would be less arguments, less upsets and less wars.

Unfortunately this sounds like the definition of an utopian culture. Because it means that you are as worthless or as worthy as any other person. And most people don't seem to accept that.

...whew

"Pope Benedict XVI has said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour is just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction."

Lol and what data shows the threat of Gays is greater than or equal to that of shrinking rainforests?

tolerating means giving in completely.

Actually that's somewhere between submission and capitulation.

and saying "I don't like people with homosexual orientation" is non-discriminatory?

If 'homosexual orientation' wouldn't be regarded as a 'bad term' it would be non-discriminatory.

It might be a long shot to preach of 'all things being equal' and this whole 'good karma' stuff,
but there is some truth in it if you think about it. Just try to see it from a solipsistic viewpoint:

"Solipsism (Latin: solus, alone + ipse, self) is the philosophical idea that "My mind is the only thing
that I know exists." Solipsism is an epistemological or ontological position that knowledge of anything
outside the mind is unjustified. The external world and other minds cannot be known and might not exist."
[-- Definition of "Solipsism, Wikipedia.org]

So if two solipsists are happen to be trapped in the same room, each of them regards the opposite entity
as non-existant. And if a third would be watching the scene, he'd say the same about the two guys in
that room.

The lesson learned here is that knowledge and opinion are based on a multifarious fundament.
If the fundament's decent, well that's cool. If the fundament is perfectly organized and open for improvement,
that's even better! If the fundament sucks, then the background sucks and your could flush all that useless
'knowledge' down the crapper along with those opinions. It's kinda funny to see how most extremist organisations
build their arguments on a shoddy fundament. And that's why those seedy things should be avoided or neglected.

Hate, greed and treachery is NEVER a good base for acquiring knowledge and experience. It is from vital importance
to regard anything and anyone as completely equal to oneself and the world to get in touch with others.

PS: When I was talking about tolerance I wasn't talking about tolerance in the pure meaning of the word.
I was talking about the term 'tolerance' that society bastardized to avoid to take a deeper thought about
what it really means. That's a popular trick too, blast a bunch of hot air and cram people's minds with terms
that'll make them feel better and you're the top dog. It's sad.

But somehow we digress  :ninja:
