the most reason is that we live in time of free downloading, and most people had already downloaded the leaks when the actual CD came and.  they thought that the 3 that was left was no big deal.

and of course what you said about walmart and about the states not being really rock n roll anymore and all that.

but i love CD and even so, gnr will never remake appetite, or the illusions, cause they were all having some sort of problems when they wrote those songs, and, problems are not bad when you need to write lyrics. like obviously, madagascar and sorry were both written about something that obviously is problem for axl  ("i wont be told anymore, that i've been put down in this storm" or "it's harder to live with the truth about you then to live with the lies about me")

1. Lack of promotion by Axl (interviews, etc)

what do you expect from a man like Axl? how many magazines could interview with him since the day the whole GNR started in the 80s? don't blame him because of lack of interviews, everybody from the record company to his managers knew his behavior when it comes to interviews. he's not an interview kind of person. he hates it.

2. Lack of world tour

what was the damn 2006-07 world tour supposed to be for? It was the best time to release CD and they didn't use it well. not to mention the 2002 semi-world tour.

3. Loss of interest after 15 years plus in the making

Loss of interest of whom? Axl, fans or record company? make it clear.

4. Lack of solid promotion by Best Buy

agreed with this one, and don't blame best buy for all, it was also a Management Failure that they couldn't find a better choice than best buy. i.e. wallmart could sell 10x more.

6. Lack of the other original members of the band

Disagree with it. because "without paul, there would be no more Guns N' Roses" RIR '01. read axl's letter about the old members specially slash to understand what that words mean.

While those first seven reasons...

those were 6 reasons, where is the seventh?

1. Rock is dead in the United States when it comes to maintstream America - it's all hip/hop, American Idol, etc

I'm Totally agree with this, and believe me this is not only about America. it's about everywhere in the world, some more some less. after a long hard day of work I come home turn TV watching MTV and I see this rappers everywhere. changing the channel to other MTV and it's the same. so I decide to change it to something other than MTV;
now I go with all music channel! oh yes! it shows something which is not rap and they guy looks like a rocker! but URGHHH it's TOKIO HOTEL!!!
