you're still not getting what i'm sayin. he would pick a woman that is against abortion for her "free will" and not a woman that had no problems with getting abortion.

but that still would not ensure she wouldn't have an abortion. god could pick someone who is against abortion, but unless god controls the future he can't ensure she wouldn't choose to get an abortion later on. if i remember the term is cognitive dissonance (edit. yip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance) and that allows human beings to hold, and act upon, two contradictory ideas.

furthermore, your scenario requires both providence (ie knowing/deciding what the woman's views will be) and free will (her 'choosing' not to have an abortion), and that is an impossibility.

She'd know he'd be baby Jesus II though, if God sent her an angel messenger like last time :) ..either that or she'd book herself into some kind of mental asylum :paranoid:   ....might we be getting a little off-topic guys? ;)

I think it should be both parties choice, men and women involved in it, unless its a rape case.
However i must say i don't really agree with abortion.

I don't think anyone loves abortion, it's not like the idea of doing it is making me all warm and cuddly inside.  But you do need to separate your involuntary emotional response from something from the wider implications of it.  And to me the positives of allowing people to choose to abort their pregnancy far outweigh the negatives.

My not enjoying something or not feeling comfortable with it does not necessarily mean anyone else should be prevented from doing said thing.  If that was the case no-one would be allowed to do anything.

Fucking hell.  OK, one person loves abortions.  Personally I'd have just shot her in the uterus and her husband in the balls and told them both to sort themselves out.

I'm pro-abortion. The only thing is that the informations about contraception is poor, people don't learn correctly about it, that's why girls get pregnant too many times. Just give more informations but don't be against abortion.

Has anyone brought stem cell research into this? Though I am uneducated on the matter, from what I remember there were some medical advances being made through it.

In what way would you like to see stem cell research brought into this?  I'm not sure why what doctors do with a blastocyst would have any bearing on whether or not it's morally acceptable for a woman to chose to have an abortion?  Couple that to new research being done which enables us to create embryonic stem cells by taking adult skin cells and essentially resetting them to an embryonic state and the chances are that there's not even going to be a need for embryos to conduct stem cell research and treatments in the not too distant future (providing the Christian conservatives don't try to ban it again).

My reasoning would be to help the woman handle it mentally. If a woman for whatever reason does not feel like she is capable of bringing a child into this world, the fact that she at least contributed to a good cause with her decision could help mentally.

That being said, I was not aware that there is a possibility that embryos may not be needed. If that is the case, then I guess I have no argument, but until then..
