I think this movie will fail at the box office no offense. I don't even know whats going on based on the trailers I have seen in the movies and its a movie only for the die hards who read comic books. Won't appeal to the people who watch movies today and has no iconic villians and heroes like The Dark Knight. It also seems like you have to read the graphic novel in order to know what is happening.

I was worried that the film would be shit, it would be very easy to water down the source material into something more popcorn friendly. Though I knew it would rock when I heard it was given an 18 certificate. The reviews are all saying it's as close to perfect as you could make it. I liked V for Vendetta but was gutted at how dumbed-down it was.

The movie is 3 hours because of all the unneccesary slo mo in it.

I think you're underestimating just how popular the graphic novel is, and all the reviews say there is very little slow-mo in the film, and the parts in slow-mo accentuate how beautifully the scenes are choreographed.

Perhaps splitting it into 2 films, shot back to back, released a year apart a la Lord of the Rings would have been the right way to do it.  It'd have been easy to create a multi-movie franchise out of Watchmen without the need for extraneous material.

Don't know if you're a Superman fan Nemo but apparently that's the idea with the Superman re-boot. It's basically going to be an 8 hour film split into 3 parts, it will chronicle the entire life of Superman, from the early days of Krypton to the finale where Superman loses his powers as the sun starts to supernova. I hope they stick with that it would be awesome.

I think I might be lucky enough to attend the premier, so if that pans out I'll be beyond psyched.

That's awesome dude, hope you make it. Give us a field report if you make it. :)

So theirs going to be rape in this movie.

Yep and it will be fabulous. I love rape.

I think this movie will fail at the box office no offense.

Yep what ShePouts said.

Maybe when you're older. It's rated R for a reason. That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with violence or language. It has to do with life experience, education, and other outside factors too.

And yes, you're right. This not a "comic book" movie per se, this is an "adult superhero" movie.

Don't know if you're a Superman fan Nemo but apparently that's the idea with the Superman re-boot. It's basically going to be an 8 hour film split into 3 parts.

I'm not a big fan of Superman because I think he's an outdated superhero, but if they're ever going to make a relavent Superman movie for the 21st Century and not fanboy fodder, they'll get a director like the Batman crew got Fincher or Nolan interested to make THEIR OWN INTERPRETATION of the hero. Not like Singer did who made a tribute movie (1/3 Donner, 1/3 Lester, 1/3 Comic: ALL CRAP), but their own vision.

The thing about Superman that Batman has never faced is the issue of evolution. Throughout history there has been many incarnations of Batman (although you could argue that they all were false incarnations of a real crime-fighter and turned into cheesy entertainment when they should have been crime dramas).

Personally I think a Smallville-style Supes movie would be the most inspiring, relevant, and successful. Anyway, the Superman series is in desperate need of help, but that overall template you mentioned sounded like a decent start.

That's awesome dude, hope you make it. Give us a field report if you make it. :)

Will do sir.  :)

I am really into that Smashing Pumpkins song used for the trail "The End Is The Beginning Is The End"

Like I said, it has nothing to do with violence/language/sex. It has to do with the knowledge of politics, history, and world issues and the ability to comprehend and appreciate the commentary. Who knows, you could get it, I'm not going to pigeonhole you, but seems to me maybe you'll appreciate it when you're older.

Awesome song. But I prefer...

The song "Take A Bow" by Muse is also awesome which is one of the trailers. I forget which one. Awesome band and awesome record. They picked up the ball after Oasis dropped it. :)

P.S.

Same here man, same here. I'll be crushed if it's rubbish. I heard Hayter's script was incredible and if Aranofsky had stayed on the project, then wow. Could have been so incredible.

But they look on track to make something great. Here's hoping.

"David Hayter's screenplay was as close as I could imagine anyone getting to Watchmen."

Alan 'I hate all movie adaptions of my work' Moore's words, not mine.  Unfortunately that wasn't enough for the studio though.

He'd updated it to set it in the present as well instead of keeping it in the 80's, which would have been nice I think, coz there's plenty to draw on from contemporary reality that would fit in with the issues the book deals with

The second trailer sucked, almost none of the dialogue was in the actual book, so hopefully that will stay true to the graphic novel. The ending was also changed, and I don't know how that'll workout. But the director's cut and the extended version is an amazing addition. I'll see how this turns out, as I have a higher expectation for than the dark knight
Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the Comedian is the only thing that makes sense.

Next movie Zack should try at is The Dark Knight Returns. Written by Frank Miller, it would be perfect for this to go on the big screen and with its dark elements and all I could see Zack doing judging by the dark stuff he has done.

I got the story. Going to buy the sequel to it The Dark Knight Strikes. I can see Zack doing it and it would be the best batman to come out and would beat The Dark Knight. Get Clint Eastwood to play the old batman in The Dark Knight Returns.
