I was raised Catholic, but if a group of Catholic terrorists flew planes into the world trade center my opinion would be the same. DON'T BUILD THE CHURCH ON OR NEAR GROUND ZERO! The bottom line is it's like a slap in the face to all the families that lost loved ones in the towers..
even the families that are FOR the community centre?
If they have loved one's that died in the towers, than yes. And if they are for it than they are probably muslim.
Oh please dude. If you got the joke then you'll get it now.If being a 'grown up' means wagging your finger at every bit of humor out there that might upset someone then fuck that. And aintitfun22.. its nAgger. You're the worst for thinking to associate Obama with any other N word that looks like that. What were you thinking?!~S~
that's a massive unfounded assumption on your part though. The moral of this story is, ultimately, religion is bullshit.and explain to me, why would Muslims wan't to disrespect their own people? seeing as many people died that day, including Muslims? (and no, i dont mean the hijackers!) Seems to me, people are getting worked up over absolutely nothing. And how one religious group can point the finger at another is beyond me.Also, how close to "ground zero" is too close anyway? is there a set distance for certain buildings to be built in relation to GZ? if so, what? is 2 blocks away not enough? 3 blocks? a different city? how far can this get taken before people realise it's just meaningless horeshit.
Would you be saying the same thing if a religion that was known to support racisim would want to build a church where Medgar Evers or Martin Luther King was killed?
No. Because it would actively be supporting - in your own words - racism, which is strongly disagree with obviously, and is against the law. This hypothetical situation you've created isnt the same as what is happening here, seeing as Muslims dont support terrorism. A terrorist doesnt have to be a Muslim, or a Christian or have any affiliation to a group to commit an act of terror on someone. This community centre doesn't support terrorism. Neither do most Muslims. Unless you can show me evidence that most Muslims are pro terrorism? So your comparison doesnt hold. If the people wanting build this community centre came out and actively supported the 9/11 attacks, your hypothetical question would be valid. This isn't the case however, so it is not.Where i live makes no difference. I can vaguely understand some people *feeling* uneasy about it, but that is purely through misconception and the fact that emotive input in decision making is pretty much a disaster waiting to happen. It's hard to make an impartial, well informed and logical decision if you get all worked up and emotive. There's a reason that in a court of law they tell you to base your verdict on the evidence presented, and nothing but the evidence.
Exactly, it is a disaster waiting to happen...
You know what Mooney.. You're right. We've killed enough. We should lay our weapons down. ~S~
so your plan would be to placate to the idiots who can't think rationally or logically, and instead allow misguided, emotive people to decide who can do what and where? I dont think so. Reasoning must prevail or no one is ever to going to learn. Surely people want to protect the right to freely practice religion in the States? Your President does...Allowing the irrational and misguied to dictate policy is a dangerous sport, particuarly when seeking to protect civil liberties. And hasn't your government sought revenge yet anyway? Some extremists killed 3000 innocent people in NY, you and us here in the UK have killed thousands more innocent civilians over in Iraq and Afganistan... Surely you're all equal now?? eh?
I don't think not wanting the mosque at Ground Zero is irrational. I think the Muslims wanting to build a mosque there is irrational, yeah we should all have sympathy for their religion and their feelings but no cares about our's.. We don't want it there, move it some where else. We are not saying don't have your mosque any where in the city just NOT there. I know we are just crass, selfish Americans that don't care about anyone but ourselves. Whatever!! Take it somewhere else period..
