Slash To Begin Recording Solo Album

uitarist Slash, famous for his work with the original Guns N' Roses lineup as well as his current work with Velvet Revolver, recently confirmed on his MySpace page that he's getting ready to enter the recording studio to record his much-talked about solo album.

He writes, "I am just about to start recording my solo album and I've been super busy getting all that together. But, it's going smoothly and I've got a great team that I'm working with. The artists are fantastic. Unfortunately, I can't leak any names yet, but I will do what I can to let you know as each collaboration is completed."

It's unlikely that the solo album will take away too much of the time he currently has devoted to Velvet Revolver. Ever since the departure of singer Scott Weiland in early 2008, the band has been on the never-ending prowl for a new singer. Speaking with Rolling Stone last month, bassist Duff McKagan says that the band is just "weeks away" from announcing their new singer. "It's down to a couple of guys," he says. "That's way down from the 400 original guys we got submissions from. It's not like Chris Cornell or one of those guys. We just want someone that fits. It can't just be good. It has to be amazing or we won't do it."

There is no word yet on who Slash will be collaborating with on the album, though his wife Perla Hudson told Rockerrazzi.com that her husband's upcoming solo record could feature artists as varied as Ozzy Osbourne and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas.

There is no word yet on a release date.

oh so what if it hasn't? it's not supposed to be out untill late may, and Slash is able to make album in less then 14 years. the making of 5 o'clock somewhere (which was fucking great) took 2 weeks.


Steven Tyler & Ozzy & Alice Cooper & Izzy are all rumoured to be on the album so i think any news of the album is good news.

doubt it. Slash has never delayed an album (except the Illusion albums, but i think it's save to say that it was Axl who delayed them)

I loved 'Ain't Life Grand' though.
i love every song on it excep "Monkey Chow". "Begger And Hangers On", "Back & Forth Again" (which i think was written about Axl), "I Hate Everybody (but you)", "Soma City Ward", "Dime Store Rock" & "Neither Can I" are all some of my fav. Slash songs. and about Ain't Live Grand: i just bought it last week, and the only song i've been listening to with some interst is "Back To The Moment". but i think my point was clear: Slash can record 14 songs in less then 3 months. (the album is supposed to be out in late may.)
