RIP TSL :: Over 4 years later this guy wants his money back? (marshall)

So like.....  I didn't open my email this morning to the 'normal' complaints of ChiDem . Com,  but I did from this dude who bought an amp from me in January of 2005.  I sold him my Marshall TSL100 Amp on eBay.  Here is his email:

 

I purchased a Marshall Amp from you 4 years ago. I just wanted to let you know what a nightmare this amp has been. It looked brand new and still does as I've never been able to use it. A short time after getting it and only playing it at low volumes in my studio it just went dead. I took it in, they re-tubed it and after playing at low volumes for maybe 50 hours it just went dead again. After sitting for a few years now I decided to try again, re-tubed by pros, played a short time and dead. I bought a 1000.00 paper weight.
 
I should have contacted you right after it went dead the first time. After paying over 1k for it and almost a 1k in tubes I am not happy.
 
Its hard to believe that you didn't know this amp was a lemon when you sold it unless you never played it.

  ok fine.... So I was going to write back to him, then I seen a paypal dispute put to my emal:

ask him further questions like: "could it be you need the money my friend?" - if he reacts for example speechless, you know what's going on, don't you?
if you get on an honest level afterwards, you can still decide what to do.

This is from January 2005... thats almost  2004  

what am I going to do?  nothing....  the dude had the amp for over 4 years, anything could have happenned to it.  Plus why the hell would he have it retubed everytime it didn't work?  that sounds like a scam from the people working on it...  " o yea I can fix it..."  tech replaces a fuse and then gets paid to retube the fucking thing?  errrr ok    Then it goes dead again because it didn't need retubing in the first place

They should have been able to diagnose the problem when he took it in to them.
And after 5 years nearly, why bother, that's one of the most stupid things I've ever heard....does he honestly expect you to cough up the cash.

Its possible that the amp could have been damaged in transit. If the dude had any brains he would have taken action against USPS the moment he realized something was fucked instead of waiting four years and then filing a dispute against you. 1k in tubes? LOL....

if he had to have a "PRO" retube it.....and let it sit for any amount of time longer than 1 month(to save money to buy tubes) before trying again, then he has no business owning a marshall.

I talked to him again.....  he keeps talking about the tubes and that they go dead.  then I asked them if the amp is totally dead or does it light up. and he says the tubes light up.    Stop talking about the tubes already. 

so anyway he wants to get it working and they sell it off.  its probably something simple but then again the freaking circuit boards in these things now adays.

also paypal won't follow-thru on this dispute cuzz of the time but they noted the complaint.. pffft

this amp is a lemon. I am hoping we can work something out. I would be happy to return the amp which is still mint but does not work properly.

dude.....can you point me in this guys direction........w/o being obvious?  I'm in sales....and I'm really good....I bet I can get that from him for 500.  And he's bringing all this up now.....BECAUSE HE NEEDS CASH......furthermore.....I could fix it and I would use it every day.....that's in the best interest of the amplifier as well.

I hear ya.... obvious he has a cash flow problem.  I would too offer him half for it, but don't live in the states anymore.

Why the fuck would he re tube it that many times, if anything was wrong it was obviously not the tubes.

irs... I don't have to do dick right now and is fine on my end.  I wouldn't sell a defective amp,  it was also only 1 year old. and all original. worked fine and I even gave him a new foot switched that costed well over a Franklin
