Why? Nobody but us cares about GNR. Everyone has got to admit now that as far as a Guns Album goes this one bombed. This band is NOT Guns N Roses and the whole world knows it. If this album was released 11 or 12 years ago and Axl kept it relavent and by it I mean the band, people may have cared about it. I hate Axl For saying Slash is a Cancer Because Slash is a big part of why Axl can be the prick he is today and get away with it. Same way as Axl made Slash as famous. Anyway that's my bitch of the day.

A lot of the more devoted NewGNR fans here all swore that Chinese was going to sell real well, was going to be a chart-topper, it was "going to change the face of music today" and all that. But public opinion of the album says otherwise. I'm not talking about all of us here.. but the more casual listeners

Someone said that if Axl had kept the band relevant through the years, that Chinese would have sold huge. And he's right. But the band basically went MIA for almost a decade. All of a sudden, years and years later, Axl Rose finally shows up. Of course, all of us who follow the band religiously knew all about the many line-up changes and who was playing and when. But to the 99% of the other fans, Axl Rose came back and he brought a bunch of people with him that were not the GNR they remembered from years earlier. So of course the band was going to get bashed for that

And through those lost years before the 2002 VMAs, there were little to no updates on the band. No news or anything about who was replacing who and who was being brought in - so it was all BRAND NEW to the average fan

While I don't think Chinese exactly "bombed" I do firmly believe it could have sold A LOT better. All I'm gonna say is, the management, labels and GNR as a band got exactly what they gave out of CD so...

btw, I do love CD myself, but the album really isn't for everyone. It's kinda all over the place. The different styles are cool I think, but hard for a "less devoted" fan to appreciate

I don't agree. the album is pretty fine, but all ignorance, zero promotion and no publicity buried it, that's all.

I only just noticed that two GNR albums re-entered the UK top 100 this week. Neither of which is CD. It's the latest of many thumbs down from the record buying public to the new stuff.

Yeah the entire "special display" was a cardboard stand. I walked in to get mine and I had pre-ordered mine but I walked around to find their display anyway and it was a freaking cardboard stand I mean wtf kinda "special display" is that?
