Hehe, not anymore.

I only just noticed that two GNR albums re-entered the UK top 100 this week. Neither of which is CD. It's the latest of many thumbs down from the record buying public to the new stuff.

Axl has got his work cut out in having the final laugh over Slash.

I asked if I could have one when they are done and they said no. :(

They should have released CD through Dollar General.  I work there and believe me if we had them at the impulse area they would sell a lot.  Plus we have more stores than Wal-Mart in the United States believe it or not, over 8,000.

I bet it would have out sold  best buy ..   can you imagine though .. the media would have had a feild day with it
( I know you were jokin and shit   but it actually makes sense (

It does, I wasn't really kidding either (well maybe a little, hehe.)

I can see it doing well, DG stores are plentiful and close.  Hehe, yeah it would get some interesting coverage on the news and such.  CD selling 2 million at a variety store.

The fact is that in this day and age, it did better than most stuff out there. From what I have averaged in the USA is that 8 out of 10 GNR fans don't even know that Chinese Democracy is released. That is how bad the advertisement was here... I am sure that when it is released everywhere in the USA it will shoot up the charts, I don't know how much though.

Any word on when they might re-promote it?

I would guess as soon as the deal is done, and a new batch of albums are pressed.

Wow. I can't believe just how pathetic these excuses are getting for why the album didnt sell? Your "average" seems to be slightly bullshit. The album didnt sell because it had no songs that were mainstream friendly. Period. Nobody gives a sweet shit if Axl went on Letterman or not. Face it, man. This thing had epic fail written all over it from the get go. We, as fans, can bullshit all we like, but the album just wasnt all that.

reason it didn't sell:

The Axl haters who will hate it no matter what, even if they don't hear it.
The GNR haters who will hate it no matter what, even if they don't hear it.
The "old" gnr fans who hate because it's only Axl, even if they don't hear it.
The "old" gnr fans who hate it because it doesn't sound like old gnr.
The 15 years media laughing stock.
No Mainstream pop-rock hits, which the majority of gnr fans want because they only liked the greatest hits anyways.
Axl yelling in some songs.
The "classic rockers" who hate it because it's not rolling stones or led zeppelin or the doors, they won't listen to anything new.

At the end of the day, cd is awesome and Axl is still cool as fuck. All the above know it, but they are jealous cocksuckers because Axl doesn't give a fuck about them.

I have a brother who doesn't like it because I have no idea, its not the same....yet he listens to Hedley, Bon Jovi and Nickelback.

CD didn't sell? 3-3.5 million is pretty solid if you ask me. Recouping costs, etc.

You can argue why it didn't sell better and such debates are limited to fanboyish, circular arguments of "what-ifs", but when it comes down to it Axl doesn't pander to the lowest common denominator (musically, ethically, etc.). That's another way of saying: "who gives a fuck how much it sells, it's a great record".

Many fail to address the obvious point that Axl/MGMT will promote it as they see fit. And I'd rather have it sell "pretty well" and perform as it has, so that only the legit music fans listen to and enjoy it rather than the alternative. Which is the 1980s party-loving 40+ year old retards who shit on it because it's too smart for them. Or the scene kids talking about "it being soooo 20 years ago", etc.

For them, they can fuck off and put their ketchup on their kobe beef and keep wearing their girl jeans.
