I'm in awe of this album, first of all. 'Nuff said.

About the guitars: is it just me or is anyone else really, really impressed with the solos on "Sorry" and "This I Love"?
Very bluesy and clean, every note well-chosen, and timed perfectly, held just long enough. No excess or flab. Very impressive.

Now, on the other extreme, the solo on "Shackler's Revenge", the outro, is mindblowing for its excess. Extremely well arranged and mindblowing but a polar opposite on the type of work I described for Sorry or TIL.

The solos on TWAT and TIL are incredible

But frankly, the whole album is!
Such a shame Bucket quit, he was the best guitarist they had since Slash :'(

Id say he is THE best Guns guitarist. Ive really started appreciating BH since CD's release, him and Axl are a world class pairing, which more than enough talent to rank along side the Axl/Slash, Plant/Page, Mercury/May, etc etc... lead guitar/singer combos.

I erally like Ron as a player and person, and feel bad for saying it - esp without realy givin Ron a fair shot with regard to writing, but BH, 4tus and DJ/Finck is one helluva guitar line-up. BH also adds that air of mystique, intrigue and raised profile to the band.

Bucketes work is sublime, Finck though on This I Love is gut wrenching, in a good way, the way its played flows with emotion and heartache, it really does, i can be listening to an upbeat song and suddenly Axl's tale of lost love comes on and im in awe of the emotion in it.

Only thing i would change is get rid of the end where it goes back to Axl, it should have had an extended part with Axl screaming and Finck playing an outro.

But seriously the guitar work is amazing.

Bucket is Bucket, his work is brilliant, Sorry is awesome. There was a time is epic, and madagascar is so raw and yet so refined.

I know I was stating the obvious to those of us who are fans of the material and performances but honest to God I dont' think the album's critics have really listened closely enough or often enough. If they had, they'd be blown away.

I haven't read my liner notes on who performed what since November or December. I need to get back into them and read who's soloing on what part.

I know its already been said but Buckethead's TWAT solo is up there with Paige's Stairway to Heaven solo, Gilmor's Comfortably Numb Outro Solo

It just blows my mind whenever I hear it...like the other solo's its not technically excessive or a non stop sdf;uilsdaf,iulsdafop,uisdao,fisuad ride (lol that made no sense) but it just fits the song and takes the song to epic status on its own

Agreed 100%. TWAT needs touted when turning on the album to a friend.

Somebody's going to hate me for this but the piano outro of TWAT is as enjoyable to me as "Layla" or "Hey Jude" 's outro.

But my one question is about the first solo in sorry.
How does he make one of the first long notes make that wierd sound. The only way of describing it in text is it goes "bwomp"

Id love to know so I can have a bash

Eddierose...nice avatar. Mad Season was underrated. I'm a huge AIC fan, also. I was just playing "Wrong Turn" on my guitar last night as well as "Angry Chair."

No clue on the "Sorry" guitar effect. My question is was a guitar used for the sounds in "Shackler's Revenge"?

Duu Duu WHEEE Duu Duu Whee, and then the knumbchuck sounding effects?

I like the riffs during the verses, too. Gives a vibe of being on a galloping horse you have little or no control over. And then during the bridge, it's like the horse changes direction and speed, and then for the chorus, he tosses your ass clean off!

Cheers man. I think Mad Season are totally underrated everyone I get to listen to them love it. Awesome showcase of Blues rock mixed with grunge. Im really getting into AIC never listened to them much before I discovered Mad Season.

Thanks for the info on the guitar effects. Could be a pedal??

Dude, do you have Dirt by Alice in Chains? Amazing stuff. I like 'em all but that's my fave.

Jerry Cantrell's second solo album is awesome, too. Degradation Trip I and II.
