Its pretty fuckin hard to take Adler serious after watching celebrity rehab and its follow up show.  I wish him the best but he needs to forget GNR right now and find a way to kick that drug habit.  Maybe then he can say something intelligent about the past, present and future.

Twenty-some years after AFD Adler is the only original member still out there doin dope,  I think that says it all about why he got fired in the first place.

I  think your really reaching here, I know you get my point. I think you are just trying to justify Axl keeping the G'n'R name.  There is no denying that Izzy played a critical part in the writing and image that was GnR.  But just like in the liner notes of UYI 2 where Axl thanked Slash for his guitar in Estranged, that duo is what people always remember and still do..  Bottom line Axl should have just changed the name of the band..

I'm not reaching; the point is, the original GnR, one could argue, ended as soon as they stopped touring in support of AFD.  Or when they fired Steven.  Or when Izzy quit.

Seriously, when Izzy bailed? A huuuuuuuuge songwriting component to the band was lost.

Everyone may only think of Axl and Slash but I'm trying to PROVE that it's a superficial and incomplete picture.

Forget image.  Hell, if image is that important, watch American Idol and become a Justin Timberlake fan or something.

Should GnR have broken up rather than fire Steven or allow Izzy to quit?

I'm not minimizing Slash as a player/songwriter.  Just saying he's no more irreplaceable than Izzy.

Glad you brought up Liner notes to UYI 2.  Who's name appears on most of the songs penned on that CD, more than any other?

I agree with you on that man. Izzy played a huge role in the writting. His grove was a very important part of this bands sound. How he and Slash worked together was amazing. Same goes for Duff though..

It WAS a band. Once that broke they would never be the same. I think they could have done good shit with Gilby (listen to his own CD's) if they had given him a chance.

If it was called another name, would you support the new Guns n' Roses, Shawn?

I think Izzy missed them, too.  From what I've read he benefited greatly from the arrangement skills of Duff and Slash.  Also, AFD would've sounded really muddy if he'd had a bigger hand in the mix/final product.  LOL.  But he's still my second favorite original GNR member.  The crazy singer being #1.  LOL.  But you knew that.

Not slamming Slash.  I love the guy, just saying Izzy was just as much a Keith to Axl's Mick.

i would have respected this band a lot more much sooner  if Axl had decided to use another name.
