I'm not going to review your review - but the "this song would've been so much better with Slash" is so tiresome - not just from you, from everyone who says it. Slash is no longer in the band. End of story. And I'm someone who has teared up listening to the guitar in November Rain and Estranged! But that is the past G 'n R. And for the record, I'm not EVER interested in an album that sounds the same as any past album. What's the point? I didn't want UYI 1 & 2 to sound like Appetite and I hoped CD had new stuff. I don't know how bands tour for so many years on the same album without wanting to poke themselves in the eye with a pencil. New is GOOD!
And I'm also kind of annoyed by people saying that there is nothing "new" or "groundbreaking" on this record. Why can't G 'n R be influenced by whatever else is going on on music?
I believe that there was no way to win for Axl. If it had sounded like Appetite or UYI 1 & 2 he would have been blasted for trying to sound like the old Guns. So he put out the record he wanted and I'm grateful it finally came out. I love every song except Riad and IRS. I've listened to it many, many, MANY times and I'm not tired of it. And FYI - my favorite track is Prostitute. It's become my all-time favorite G 'n R song, ever.
Good luck with your reviewing career. You've picked a very tough job.
