Says you. "No Line on the Horizon" is a great record and U2 has a couple other good ones too.

You may not like Bono/U2 because they're pretentious or many of the other criticisms of U2-haters, but
fact remains, Bono has never written a song about HIS ASS.

Do I think U2 is a musical savior or the best band ever? No. But they actually attempt to make good music and try
to produce good art, not sugary pop songs about sex, asses, and getting drunk. The Black Eyed Peas suck. Fergie sucks.
Playing with them is nothing more than an attempt to stay relevant when his band is in the crapper/they're looking for an new lead singer.

Slash is going out and having a good time. He doesn't worry about whats "Cool" and "not cool" and who he "should" and "shouldn't" play with. Slash IS cool, the man is the definition of it. i'd rather have Slash's lifestyle of playing with as many young artists as possible and having a great time then sit in my house making an album for 14 years and then go back to sitting in my house.

in the past decade he has put out two kick-ass albums and one semi album. and toured for all of it as well as playing with countless talented musicians (like ray charles, MJ, Ronnie Wood and more)

in the past decade Axl has put out one good album, toured twice and  the first tour was a flop.

sorry but what the teo of them have been doing in the past decade makes it ALOT easier to be a Slash fan then a Axl fan.

Well yes Slash has done more this decade but he is always known as "former GNR guitarist and now VR guitarist Slash. Axl Rose is known as the lead singer of GNR lol. If you want stability this decade you definitely won't look at either Slash or Axl or Duff. It'll be Izzy and surprisingly Steven. They have been the most consistant with their efforts.
As far as Tommy goes he is a self proclaimed attention seeker, its in The Dirt lol. But Tommy is still cool lol.

Contraband was a great record that was in many ways ruined by a horrible mix job and Libertad was not good.
And any good that it had was ruined by Weiland over-hyping it as "Exile on Main St good".

It has nothing to do with Axl. It has to do with the quality of Slash's output.

My enjoyment of the new lineup of Guns or the Chinese Democracy record has nothing to do with how I judge Slash's/VR's music. I hate people who bring politics into journalism, reviews, etc., so, like I said, it has nothing to do with Axl.

To me, there's no fire in his licks anymore. He hasn't found someone who can bring out his greatness, unfortunately.
IMO, he need a strong leader to push him otherwise he'll put out what's comfortable and what "he knows".
And as most music fans will testify, music isn't about structural perfection, it's about how it makes you feel and
by-and-large, it's been uninspiring stuff, especially considering his past works.

Mick and Keith, Page and Plant, May and Mercury...the list goes on and on. All pushed one another.
They may have hated the other for it, but most of them made up in the end because the recognized that the
other was pushing them outside their comfort zone and that produced great art, even when they were on top.

It's unfortunate what happened in the old days, but I wish nothing but the best for Slash and hope that he finds a rare talent to make great music with. I just don't think Scott or even Duff are those people anymore.

So when you combine his lack of desire (seemingly) to make great music and him wasting time with vapid popstar holes like Stacy Ferg, it rubs one the wrong way. It has to do with integrity. Slash was "cool" because he did things that pissed the mainstream off: say fuck on-air, drunk in public, and be a dirty nasty dude. My problem is the lack of good ragas and him living off his "image" and not living the lifestyle....
