Well, lions and other cats are camnivores. They can't really digest grass etc..aka why cat eats grass n throw up their hair balls. We how ever can digest meat, but we use a lot of time to do so, besides, if we're supposed to eat meat, then why do we get so many health problems caused by it?

Ever heard of a cat dying of a heart attack caused by high cholesterol?

what about us being omnivores? :?:

+ i think it's carnivore rather than camnivore.

many believe that we are omnivores as we can digest meat but in fact we have more common characteristics with herbivores...

taken from wikianswers:

Are Humans Carnivores or Herbivores?

Are human beings anatomically more similar to natural carnivores or to natural herbivores? Let's find out....

    * Intestinal tract length. Carnivorous animals have intestinal tracts that are 3-6x their body length, while herbivores have intestinal tracts 10-12x their body length. Human beings have the same intestinal tract ratio as herbivores.
    * Stomach acidity. Carnivores' stomachs are 20x more acidic than the stomachs of herbivores. Human stomach acidity matches that of herbivores.
    * Saliva. The saliva of carnivores is acidic. The saliva of herbivores is alkaline, which helps pre-digest plant foods. Human saliva is alkaline.
    * Shape of intestines. Carnivore bowels are smooth, shaped like a pipe, so meat passes through quickly — they don't have bumps or pockets. Herbivore bowels are bumpy and pouch-like with lots of pockets, like a windy mountain road, so plant foods pass through slowly for optimal nutrient absorption. Human bowels have the same characteristics as those of herbivores.
    * Fiber. Carnivores don't require fiber to help move food through their short and smooth digestive tracts. Herbivores require dietary fiber to move food through their long and bumpy digestive tracts, to prevent the bowels from becoming clogged with rotting food. Humans have the same requirement as herbivores.
    * Cholesterol. Cholesterol is not a problem for a carnivore's digestive system. A carnivore such as a cat can handle a high-cholesterol diet without negative health consequences. A human cannot. Humans have zero dietary need for cholesterol because our bodies manufacture all we need. Cholesterol is only found in animal foods, never in plant foods. A plant-based diet is by definition cholesterol-free.
    * Claws and teeth. Carnivores have claws, sharp front teeth capable of subduing prey, and no flat molars for chewing. Herbivores have no claws or sharp front teeth capable of subduing prey, but they have flat molars for chewing. Humans have the same characteristics as herbivores.

But aren't humans anatomically suited to be omnivores?

Nope. We don't anatomically match up with omnivorous animals anymore than we do with carnivorous ones. Omnivores are more similar to carnivores than they are to herbivores.

there are nearly as many opinions as there are scientists getting their paycheques. We all know the one who ordered the music is the one who tells which music is being played. (lobbyists)

 :)

it was just an example... what popped up first on google regarding humans being omnivores... There are plenty of scientific and medical studies that prove that vegetarian diets are more healthy diets like the following...  Search on google the researches I marked with bold or pm to send them to you  :)

Vegetarian Diets:

Study Shows Vegetarian Populations Have Lower Rates of Hypertension, Berkow & Barnard 2005, Nutrition Reviews: A scientific review shows that high blood pressure can be reduced with diet changes, especially a vegetarian diet. The report analyzes the results of published studies and concludes that vegetarian populations have lower rates of hypertension, "the silent killer."

Vitamin B12: Are You Getting It? Jack Norris 2003, Vegan Outreach: All vegans should meet the RDA for vitamin B12 of 2.4 micrograms per day, and it is best to get this vitamin from a variety of reliable sources.

The Oxford Vegetarian Study: An Overview, Appleby et al. 1999, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 70, 525S: A 16-year study of 6000 vegetarians and 5000 non-vegetarians in the UK found that the vegetarians generally had lower LDL cholesterol levels and lower death rates for each of the mortality endpoints studied.

Vegetarian Diet: Panacea for Modern Lifestyle Diseases?, Segasothy & Phillips 1999, Q J Med, 92, 531: The many health-related effects of vegetarian diets are reviewed, such as the cholesterol-lowering effects, the decreased risk for coronary heart disease, the improvement of the condition of heart patients, and the decreased risk of colon and breast cancers.

Health Implications of Mediterranean Diets in Light of Contemporary Knowledge II , Kushi et al. 1995, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 61, 1416S: Evidence strongly suggests that a high intake of plant-based foods, and a low intake of animal products contributes to the excellent health of Mediterranean populations. The high consumption of red meat in Western diets is associated with increased risks of heart disease, some cancers, and urinary calcium losses likely to contribute to osteoporosis.

Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors in Free-Living Men: Comparison of Two Prudent Diets, Kestin et al. 1989, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 50, 280: The results of two, fat-modified diets, a lactoovovegetarian one rich in plant-based foods, and another in which 60% of the plant protein was replaced with protein from lean meat, were compared. While both diets lowered cholesterol and blood pressure relative to a high-fat diet, the vegetarian diet had a significantly greater cholesterol-lowering effect than the prudent non-vegetarian diet.

Animal Product Consumption and Mortality ... in Seventh-Day Adventists, Snowdon 1988, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 48, 739: A study of 27,529 Seventh-day Adventist adults over a 20-year period revealed that the consumption of specific animal products (meat, eggs, milk) was associated with mortality, heart disease, cancer, and/or diabetes.
