Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the only man convicted of the murder of 270 people in the lockerbie bombing over 20 yrs ago, has been handed over to Libyan authorities due on compassionate grounds. I was just wondering what everyone, especially americans, thinks about this. Most of the 270 killed were american yet he was tried under scottish law.

Do you think it is right to show compassion to a dieing mass murderer? Do you think he was innocent anyway? Do you think its part of a wider political game?

Personally, so long as the man has terminal cancer and he isn't going to see the new year then it shows us to take the moral high ground. Having spoken to friend involved directly with the case I have no doubt of his guilt tho.

I haven't studied his history so I can't say if he's innocent, guilty or dieing.

What got on my tits was when the Hildabeast bossed us (Britain, Scotland, whatever) into keeping him in our prison until he dies. That was a bit rich from a 3rd party, particularly an American.

Anyway, fuck the US. That prick Obama has stabbed us in the back in Afghanistan and left us out to dry.

I think this might be the start of improved relations between Britain and Libya, so that oil eventually comes our way in the future.

Can you not see how it shows that what terrorists are fighting to destroy is better than what they want? I'm not saying its the only way, but surely rather than just saying we're better than them we actually do something that proves it.

No way he should be left to die in there, fuck compassion, did he show compassion to the 270 people on that plane, where they given the chance to say say good bye to loved ones and friends, no they had no dealings with these people issues, it was nothing to do with them, if they wanted to make a polictical statement or whatever, bomb a military plane or government plane, although still not condonable it is much more of a statement.

Bah whoever is in prison for premeditating and commiting murder should serve full life sentance, obviously there are exceptions but fuckers like the murderers of Baby P how come they will be out in next 15-20 years. its sickening

Our cries for assistance in Helmand province have gone completely ignored. We've got 8000 troops on the ground there. It's the deadliest part of Afghanistan. It took months for your dickhead, soft as shit President to agree to send a few more marines to help us do the hard work, in which time about 25 soldiers have died and hundreds have been injured.

I'd consider this to be the first in a long line of middle fingers which we will be sending to our so called allies across the water.
