yeah, why bother trying to come to a logical conclusion when we can just respond to our base desire for vengence.

i have no feelings of vengeance, lol don't you read this section?  i could care less if people i don't know die.  either the integrity of the court matters or not.  if you release someone due to acquitting them, then justice is served.  if you let someone out for any other reason, why even have a trial to begin with.

part of the 'integrity' of scot's law is compassionate release. the only way this could be abused is if somebody intentionally gave themselves a  terminal disease and even then they'd only be out with a little time left.

you're statement about not caring about those you dont know dying  intrigues me. i take it you didnt know anyone on pan-am 103 or from lockerbie.

welp i guess if he got out legally, more power to em he beat the system.  If i lived in scotland i'd want this loophole closed but I dont live there so fuck it i guess, they know more about what their country needs than i do.  I know i don't want that "compassionate release" clause where I live.

and no, i don't know anyone from the incident

To be honest, Gordan brown acted like a total IDIOT in this situation. "He didn't want him to die in prison?" Where else would he die in shame fore his actions?

the only time when this applies is when the prisoner is in the final stage of a terminal illness and, whilst i enjoy a shroedinger's cat discussion as much as the next guy, it is on his death which has facilitated his release.

Quote from: UPDATE FROM DOCTOR
Dr. Karol Sikora, a cancer specialist and dean of the Buckingham University School of Medicine, was among those who suggested that al-Megrahi, who suffers from prostate cancer, had three months to live. He is now eating his words.

If "I could go back in time, I would have probably been more vague and tried to emphasize the statistical chances and not hard fact," he told Britain's Observer newspaper on Sunday — comments that have further outraged victims' families.

He resides with his wife and children in south Tripoli's posh Damascus neighborhood, home to ministers and ambassadors. The family's two-story villa is surrounded by a well-manicured garden with a fountain. In the garage are a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Hummer and a BMW 7 sedan.

What are your current thoughts about Kurt Cobain?

At least he's living comfortable still. I'm sure he regrets what he did.

I'm all for rehabilitation. But I gotta say, having experienced the state of Ohios specific brand and finding it lacking, their just may be some need for reform in that department. At least they 'call it' rehabilitation though. Basically they have you "talk it out" and watch videos during your incarceration, and by telling you they're rehabilitating you they think they'll accomplish the feat. I wasted six months of my youth in their facilities, and in the process lost a fairly decent job... seems the opposite of rehab, especially considering my only crime was having a particular fondness for Dope. maybe what we need is a new screening process to determine the appropriateness of the 'applicants'. "This guy flew into a fit of rage when he caught his wife with another man and in his jealous fury, beat the other guy near death? Okay let's hit him with an attempted murder charge, drop it to assualt for him so he can skip the trial and the possible life sentence, put him up for a few years to give him some time to get over it, talk about it, and watch an after school special or two, then we'll let him go" "Oh this other guy... well he liked sit in the privacy of his own home and induce a little euphoria. Didn't hurt anybody, and probably never would.. let's do the same for him".   That is bullshit. rant better stop there before I get a couple pages deep
